Dear tenant / resident association / community group,
Please find attached minutes from the last Newham Network meeting (29th August), at which Alex Savine, Head of Planning Policy, London Legacy Development Corporation gave a presentation on the LLDC’s developing Local Plan. A consultation on the Local Plan will likely take place between November 2013 and January 2014. NB the meeting was open to groups from Hackney and a some that we have contact with in Tower Hamlets.
Attendees at the meeting also had some discussion about the focus of future network meetings and involving other groups / local networks. It was agreed that the next network meeting (supported by London Tenants Federation and Just Space) should focus on the Localism Act. Particularly it will look how elements of the Act might practically support local community groups (including around neighbourhood planning and community rights elements of the Act).
We aim to hold this meeting during the week commencing 21st October and to involve groups that have been involved with the Hackney and possibly also Greenwich networks that we are working with. I will contact again when this meeting has been arranged.
It was also agreed that we will arrange a further meeting with the LLDC during the consultation period on its Local Plan.
