Folks --

Montgomery County makes available neighborhood athletic fields that
you can use for team practices.

Some fields that are relatively convenient to many Stoddert families
would be:
Bethesda Elemenary School
Somerset Elementary School (off Wisconsin close to Friendship
Heights)
Rosemary Hills Elementary School (off East West highway close to 16th
Street)
Norwood Park (off Connecticut near Bradley)
Ray’s Meadow (East-West Highway and Beach Drive, north side of E-W)
Meadowbrook (the flood plain south of East-West Highway and Beach
Drive)
Chevy Chase Local field (closed for spring season, although not noted
on the website).
Westmoreland Park (close to Westmoreland Circle)

Stoddert requests permits for Chevy Chase Elementary School, North
Chevy Chase Elementary, Westbrook Elementary School, and Westland
Middle School that are allocated through our normal practice time
procedure. But if you might prefer a different MoCo field, you can
apply directly. If your application is successful, the permit costs
$45 and Stoddert will reimburse this fee.

To apply:
Please note that the deadline for practice field permits is Feb. 15.
You can still apply after that, but your request is only considered
after those received prior to the deadline have been allocated. All
submissions that meet the deadline are allocated on a lottery basis.
No preference is given based on the order received. League requests
are filled before any individual requests are allocated. The big one
competing with us is MSI soccer. No information is provided on league
allocations, so you have to apply blindly, although you are allowed to
rank order your preferences.

Not all fields are available for soccer, so you need to review field
specifics before applying. You can review a list of “all
fields” (school fields are listed first, followed by park fields, in
alphabetical order). You can also look up a specific field that may
interest you, or search by region.
