Total Solar Eclipse Meridian Flip Warning

All,

For anyone traveling to see the upcoming total solar eclipse and are planning to track it with an equatorial mount, please check the timing and your mounts settings in regard to its meridian flip function.  Some mounts have a hard stop.  Totality may be quite near the meridian in some locations like Texas.  This may cause your mount to flip and create an unnecessary problem for you especially if trying to take a video or timelapse sequence.
