So I thought I would share a little project I worked on this last couple of weeks. I was tinkering with a Nikon 50MM f1.8 AFD lens and an adapter for the CCD camera. It took some trial runs but I got a nice narrowband widefield of Sadr in Cygnus.

The center of the frame is Sadr, to the left and down the bright star is Deneb with the North America and Pelican nebulas. To the right and up a bit is the Crescent nebula and in the bottom right corner is a small part of the Veil nebula.

Not a high res shot but I thought it turned out nice. The filters were HA, S2 and O3, about 6 hours each under a Bortle 6 to 7 sky from my backyard in Livermore.

That is spectacular!!!!!

I like that the reds are different. Many RGB images all have the same red, but these narrow band filters really separate the colors.

Chris, long time no see. How are you and where do you live now?

Thank you all for the compliments the hobby has ever gotten old and since I started 20 plus years ago. What amazes me is the technology advances.

Jeff, yes it has been a long time, I am out in Livermore, wave to me, I live in those homes you see on the right as you descend the hill into the Tri-Valley! Hoping to see you at Peddler this year. Life is good, not retired but thinking about it. I still remember getting my first scope and you helping me star test it at your home in Stockton against the artificial star/ Christmas ornament your neighbor allowed you to place on a pole! Always good times!

I’m hoping to be at the Heliport Saturday night, I think Peddler will be filled with campers due to it being the 4th of July weekend. I retired on May 27th!!!!! I’m full-blast mirror-making now with an additional astro-business looming that I hope to get happening before Christmas. So I am extremely busy and am going to have to step back a bit on the SAS involvement, at least for a half-year or so. But I hope to be at high altitude start parties and Hwy 4 star parties.

I suppose your kid is all grown up and you have grandchildren now????? I haven’t see you in so long.

OK, take care,
