Stock Clerk OLYMPICS?
You gotta be kidding me, right?
Nope. I think our guys are better than their guys, and I can imagine
all kinds of contests to prove it!
For example:
PALLET TOSS: How many CHEP pallets can you toss onto a single stack in
a certain amount of time? Judged for quantity, with possibly points
off for degrees of non-straightness. A test of strength and
accuracy. I mean, heck, if the Scots can toss cabers (check out this
video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gc2A1-BL5k) , why not us
tossing pallets?
RESHOP RELAY RACE: Team competition. Each person gets an aisle, which
they run down, in sequence, collecting everything they can spot on
both sides of the aisle that is out of place. Said items go into a
shopping cart that the team member then has to pass to the next person
as a "baton," for them to begin the next aisle. Judges plant known
items ahead of time, some easy, some hard to spot, so each team gets
the same challenge. Each team gets a chance ahead of time to inspect
the aisles with nothing out of place, before the judges plant the
reshop items. Teams do NOT get to watch each other compete, so
everyone's dash is fair.
POWER-JACK RESTACK / HIGH-LIFT RERACK: How fast can you move a
specified configuration of pallets on both the floor and up in the
racking from configuration A to configuration B? Some pallets might
need to be split first. Some might be in need of wrapping before
handling (or not -- how daring are you?), etc., etc. Time trial with
points off for non-neatness, spills, pallets in wrong place, etc.,
etc.
THROW IT IN THE HOLE! Speed trial for individuals, working a runner
of load. Mix of boxes, cans, jars, etc. High, low, middle spots on
the shelf, etc. Points off for any labels not thrown forward, etc.
Think ESPN might be interested? ;-)
Got any more/better ideas?
