Felix Rosenqvist planning MSR exit one month after Indy win (IndyCar)
One month ago, Felix Rosenqvist and Meyer Shank Racing were soaking in the thrill of claiming the closest win in Indianapolis 500 history.
Now they both find themselves preparing for new ventures.
Meyer Shank Racing confirmed Wednesday that Rosenqvist plans to exit the team’s No. 60 Honda for a new opportunity in 2027. The Swede’s future path is uncertain, but he’s rumored to land at either Andretti Global or Arrow McLaren.
“It’s unfortunate that Felix has decided to move on from MSR at the end of the season, particularly given everything we’ve accomplished together, including this year’s Indy 500 victory,” MSR co-owner Mike Shank told RACER’s Marshall Pruett. “Over the past several years, Felix has played an important role in helping build this program into what it is today, and we’re grateful for his contributions both on and off the track.”
Rosenqvist is a two-time IndyCar winner, having arrived in the American series after a spell in Formula E. He currently sits in a tie for sixth in the championship standings, behind Andretti’s Kyle Kirkwood and Arrow McLaren teammates Christian Lundgaard and Pato O’Ward. He also finished sixth last year in a return to form after multiple subpar seasons with Chip Ganassi Racing.
The resurgence has made Rosenqvist MSR’s lead driver and its biggest star, giving weekly consistency to a team known primarily for its initial Indy 500 breakthrough with Helio Castroneves in 2021. RACER reported that MSR made a significant counteroffer to keep Rosenqvist, but the veteran still plans to go elsewhere.
MSR will be a strong candidate for potential free agents with Rosenqvist’s exit. Teammate Marcus Armstrong was in contention to win the same Indy race and could re-sign with the organization for 2027.

 MotoGP silly season picks up with moves for Bagnaia, Acosta (MotoGP)
Silly season is in full swing this weekend in MotoGP, with two of the most consequential decisions for the 2027 season officially made.
Most of the news announced this week was already known in the paddock. But Liberty Media and the teams had kept things quiet until they reached an agreement on their version of F1’s Concorde Agreement.
With that deal done, Ducati got the ball rolling on Tuesday and Wednesday, first locking in defending champion Marc Marquez with a two-year deal and later confirming its impending split with Pecco Bagnaia. The move had been expected for months, opening the door for another marquee rider to join Marquez in 2027.
Shortly afterward came confirmation that Pedro Acosta will take Bagnaia’s place at Ducati, shifting over from KTM to form Ducati into a superteam with the top veteran and prospect. Acosta took five podiums for GasGas Tech3 in his 2024 rookie campaign and has secured eight podiums so far in less than two years for KTM. He’s a quick, promising prospect - albeit one still in search of his first win.
“Pedro is undoubtedly one of the most talented young riders in the MotoGP paddock,” Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali said in a release. “At just 22 years old, he is the kind of rider with whom a new and exciting chapter can be written.
“We have always liked him and have been following him for some time, both for what he has achieved on track and for his direct and easy-going personality, which we are sure will make Ducatisti fall in love with him once he is dressed in red.”
Bagnaia will shift over to Aprilia, joining Marco Bezzecchi on a four-year deal. The move offers security and will keep Bagnaia with the company until 2030, when he’ll turn 34.
It also means both Ducati and Aprilia have locked their rider lineups in for next year. Bezzecchi’s contract extension was locked in back in February. He currently leads the standings, though Marquez has quickly carved into the championship gap after returning from injury.

FIA removes presidential term limits, age threshold expected to go next (F1)
The FIA passed a proposal to end term limits for its presidents with a supermajority of 90.71% approval on Thursday, striking the prior limit of three four-year terms.
This move will allow current FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem, currently in the midst of his second term, to theoretically continue as president beyond the prior 12-year limit if he so chooses.
Another current rule calls that into question, with an age restriction of 70 and Ben Sulayem currently sitting at 64 years old. But the Emirati is expected to make a move to eradicate that rule as well, with a reported aim to serve as president for life, per the BBC’s Andrew Benson.
The FIA has made efforts to end term limits for multiple roles, a move it claimed was to “establish a consistent approach to tenure across all FIA bodies.” A spokesperson for the FIA likened the thinking behind the move to the NFL’s strategy with commissioner Roger Goodell, who’s held his post since 2006 and guided the league to unprecedented popularity.
While Goodell was working to steer football to new heights, the FIA was heading in the opposite direction. Ben Sulayem’s predecessor, Jean Todt, implemented the three-term limit.
That’s now quickly been eliminated, with the FIA also implementing stricter rules for presidential candidates to run. Candidates now must “demonstrate sufficient experience within an FIA member or an FIA body,” and must submit the the names of their support team of vice-presidents a full 100 days out from the election - more than double the previous requirement of 49 days.
These moves will collectively make it more difficult to run against Ben Sulayem while also positioning him to hold the presidential position in perpetuity. They follow a contentious election cycle where a quirk in the preceding election rules barred any rivals from standing against Ben Sulayem on Election Day.
One of the six global regions candidates are required to pick a prospective vice-president for sport from, South America, had just one candidate - Fabiana Ecclestone, wife of former F1 leader Bernie and a member of Ben Sulayem’s team.
That made it essentially impossible for anyone to run then, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to get easier for prospective candidates anytime soon.
