MotoGP single-bike proposal near collapse after coming close to approval (Moto)
According to Motorsport’s Oriol Puigdemont, MotoGP’s manufacturers anticipated that teams would remove one of their two bikes from the front of each garage during practice sessions before reverting back to two-bike setups for the races.
The move was pitched as something of a cost-saving measure, led by Aprilia and backed by Ducati. But it’s had its detractors - namely, manufacturers including KTM that thought the effort was an attempt for the frontrunners to bolster their technical advantage with the 2027 prototypes by slowing development work with a single bike.
These differences of opinion have apparently led to a last-second rethink of the proposal. Motorsport reported that it “understands that divisions within the Motorcycle Sports Manufacturers Association (MSMA) have forced a rethink on a proposal that had been all but approved. As things stand, the initiative has reached a dead end and now appears highly unlikely to be introduced.”
More on the developments from Puigdemont:
During an MSMA meeting held on the Sunday morning of the Hungarian Grand Prix at Balaton Park, the manufacturers left believing they had reached an agreement on what was initially dubbed the “WorldSBK rule” – a reference to the production-based championship, where riders have only one bike available in the garage – before the proposal was later rebranded as the “second-bike limitation”.
While the manufacturers shook hands on the deal, nothing was formally signed with sufficient legal weight to make the agreement binding. That allowed KTM to reverse its position, something it communicated to the other MSMA members at Assen, breaking the unanimity required to take the proposal to the Grand Prix Commission.
The commission, made up of representatives from the FIM, the MSMA, IRTA and promoter MotoGP SEG, is responsible for approving changes to the championship’s regulations through a simple majority vote. Without unanimous backing from the manufacturers, however, the proposal has effectively been blocked before reaching that stage.
All is not lost just yet. Discussions are set to resume in three weeks at Silverstone. But a decision is expected there and, barring another unforeseen shift, it’s likely the preceding status quo will hold true moving forward.

 Former Grand-Am President Tom Bledsoe dead at 71 (Sports Cars)
Bledsoe arrived in NASCAR in 1990 and spent years with the organization, serving as its treasurer and Chief Financial Officer. He moved to the company’s subsidiary, Grand-Am, to become the tour’s Chief Operating Officer in 2007, before being promoted to President in 2010.
Bledsoe went on to serve the role through 2012. During his tenure with Grand-Am, he helped guide the sports car racing tour into an era spearheaded by the success of the Daytona Prototype. He later stepped down to become Vice President of Administration, opening up the role to Ed Bennett.
In the ensuing years, Grand-Am merged with the American Le Mans Series to form IMSA, where Bennett now serves as CEO. He and IMSA President John Doonan released the following joint statement on Tuesday:
“On behalf of our IMSA and NASCAR teammates, we extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of former Grand-Am President and longtime NASCAR executive Tom Bledsoe, who passed away over the weekend.
“Tom played an instrumental role in the growth of endurance sports car racing throughout the 2000s and early 2010s, helping lay the foundation for the continued success IMSA enjoys today following the merger of Grand-Am and the American Le Mans Series in 2012.
“He was a respected leader and valued teammate within the Grand-Am organization, including among several individuals who remain part of the IMSA family today. Our thoughts and prayers are with Tom’s family and friends during this difficult time. He will be greatly missed.”

World of Outlaws: The crowd at Attica Raceway Park was treated to a shocking local winner on Tuesday evening. With the track holding its annual Brad Doty Classic, Ohio native Bryce Lucius battled Kyle Larson and, when Larson flipped out of the race in the closing laps, pulled clear of Logan Schuchart to score a hugely popular win in the Buckeye State.
 
 
Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series: Nick Hoffman held him honest in the closing laps. But when the pay window opened up at Adams County Speedway, Bobby Pierce struck for another victory.
 
 
Short Tracks
Slinger Nationals: It was following the script until it wasn’t. With 10 to go, Ty Majeski was seemingly inching away with yet another controlled victory at Slinger Super Speedway.
But as the laps wound down, Gabe Sommers and Carson Brown chased the former Craftsman Truck Series champ down. Sommers gave him a nudge, Brown snuck by them both and the pair came together, sending Majeski around and knocking them both out of contention.
From there, chaos. There were multiple cautions. Brown was repeatedly contacted on restarts, shredding his sheet metal and costing the prospect downforce. Andrew Morrissey got the worst of contact battling for the lead and just nine cars remained on-track.
 
Number of the Day: 6
Justin Allgaier’s EchoPark Speedway win was his sixth of the 2026 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series season. That’s a new personal best for Allgaier, who’d previously set a top mark of five victories in 2018.
Here’s the kicker: He set the new standard in just 21 races. It took him 25 races to get to five (before going winless through the playoffs) in 2018.

eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series: I was going to post a recap here. But in truth, I’m not sure they’ve sorted the finishing order out yet. A trio of late overtime attempts gave way to a finish under caution and a change in the lead when frontrunner Ryan Luza ran out of fuel. Parker White took home the win… I think. And everything else played out chaotically as drivers tried to avoid penalties behind him.
