Formula E unveils Gen4 car ahead of upcoming season (Formula E)
The series in the FIA provided the first official imagery of the incoming car on Wednesday, providing a glimpse at the next generation that will roll from 2026 through 2030.
The car will feature more power, with 600kw that equates to more than 800hp. That’ll mark a significant increase over the current machine, which features roughly 469hp. This boost should put it roughly in line with a Formula 2 car when the machine is in race
mode.
All-wheel drive will be available at all times with the new car, compared to only during starts, qualifying and attack mode with the Gen3 challenger. The car features both a high-downforce qualifying setup and a low-downforce race setup. Formula E calls it
“the world’s most efficient and sustainable race car: almost 100% motor efficiency, regenerating 40% energy.”
With the new car, Formula E hopes to bring back manufacturers after the exit of several key OEMs over the past five years. A field that once reached 12 cars has diminished to 10 in recent years, with iconic brands like Audi, BMW, McLaren and Mercedes all exiting
during the stretch.
“The GEN4 is designed for the pioneers of tomorrow,” Formula E co-founder Alberto Longo said in a series release. “The new technical capabilities, from 600kW of power to active all-wheel drive, will test our drivers like never before. It’s a car built for wheel-to-wheel
battles and pure racing action.
“Together with the FIA, we’ve created the most challenging Formula E car to master, and we can’t wait to see the incredible racing it will deliver for fans around the world.”

Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing pairs with McLaren for IMSA GTD effort (Sports Cars)
Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s (RLLR) lengthy BMW tenure in sports car racing is over, but the program has a powerful new partner for 2026.
The company announced Wednesday that it will pair with McLaren for an IMSA GTD entry in 2026, with reported plans to enter a second car in 2027. It will field the No. 59 McLaren GT3 EVO in IMSA’s GTD Pro class next year to kick off a multi-year collaboration
with McLaren.
“As someone who has always valued the rich history of motorsport, partnering with a brand as iconic as McLaren is truly exciting,” RLLR co-founder Bobby Rahal said in a team release. “The Rahal legacy began with my father Mike’s passion for sports car racing,
and to now launch this new chapter with such a storied partner is something we take tremendous pride in.”
The pairing will be new for both parties, who were used to competing against each other on-track. McLaren previously ran with Pfaff Motorsports in IMSA, where it failed to deliver a win despite finding victory in both the FIA World Endurance Championship and
GT World Challenge Europe.
Rahal’s brand has long been associated with BMW M Motorsport, with the entities engaged in a partnership that ran from 2009 through 2025. The group earned championships in the American Le Mans Series, scored class wins in the Rolex 24 at Daytona, Twelve Hours
of Sebring and Petit Le Mans.

Caio Collet scores IndyCar call-up with AJ Foyt Racing (IndyCar)
The NTT IndyCar Series field will have a new face in 2026.
AJ Foyt Racing announced Thursday that Caio Collet will join the team in 2026, pairing with Santino Ferrucci in the No. 4 Chevrolet to complete its driver lineup. The move will be a step up for the Brazilian, who finished second in the 2025 Indy NXT championship.
He has four victories in 15 podiums in 28 series appearances after making the leap over from European formula racing in 2024.
“I’m very happy to join AJ Foyt Racing in the IndyCar Series and thankful to Larry (Foyt, team president) for trusting my skills and giving me this fantastic opportunity,” Collet said in a team release. “It is a dream come true after years of hard work in developing
series since my early go-karting experiences.
“I’m thankful to all teams and sponsors that helped me through my career, especially Marcelo Camargo from Combitrans Amazonia, that joined our Indy NXT campaign this season and will be with us next year. IndyCar is huge in Brazil and I’m looking forward to
bringing its flag back to a full-time seat in the 2026 season.”
Collet’s arrival comes in place of David Malukas, who scored a move up to Team Penske after an 11th-place championship effort in 2025. He’ll be the fifth driver to pilot the No. 4 in the past five seasons.
“Caio is a welcome addition to AJ Foyt Racing,” Larry Foyt said. “He has shown great potential in Indy NXT by Firestone and in the junior formulas in Europe. I was impressed with how he adapted to our car at the recent Mid-Ohio test and I’m very excited to
see what he can do in IndyCar. There’s no doubt that he will be a strong contender in the battle for Rookie of the Year.”

Kyle Larson became the third multi-time champion of NASCAR’s elimination playoff era with Sunday’s title clincher at Phoenix Raceway. The second championship was nothing like the first. Larson had seven fewer wins, five less top-fives and four fewer top-10s.
He led 1,475 fewer laps, too. Yet he was still among the year’s most consistent contenders and a deserving champion. It just goes to show how the parity has increased in the Next Gen era - and how utterly dominant Larson’s 2021 title campaign was.
