Cup Series: NASCAR street courses are officially two-for-two when it comes to shocking, non-full-time winners.

The road to Heim Time was a tricky one. NASCAR’s unique event in Naval Base Coronado arrived with SVG as the favorite. But after he and teammate Connor Zilisch were knocked out in a melee with Austin Hill, the race was blown open.
 
That gave opportunity to Heim and Tyler Reddick. And while the points leader held the lead and would be the favorite of the two on paper, Heim was able to hold pace with his future full-time teammate and take advantage of an uncharacteristic mistake from Reddick to seize the lead in the closing laps.
Reddick tried to fight back with a crossover, but made contact and elected to let his teammate retake the place. He later blew a tire and dropped down the running order.
“That wasn’t right,” Reddick said of the contact. “I wasn’t going to pass him for the win that way, especially a teammate.”
 
 
O’Reilly Auto Parts Series: It’s been a long four weeks for Richard Childress Racing since the shocking loss of Kyle Busch. But the organization earned a chance to celebrate and honor their lost star after its first win after his passing on Saturday.

It took a little help to make it happen. Carson Kvapil was challenging for his first win when contact from Taylor Gray shoved his No. 1 Chevrolet out of the way.
Two laps later, Hill snuck past Gray to earn an emotional victory for both himself and the team.
“It’s great to win here and we all have Kyle in our hearts,” team owner Richard Childress said.
 
 
Craftsman Truck Series: What looked like a surprising breakthrough win turned into the status quo on the final lap of Friday’s Truck Series race in Coronado.
Tyler Reif was leading in the last half-lap when he blew the chicane preceding the 16-turn course’s final corner. IndyCar: On paper, Christian Lundgaard marched forward from 12th to claim Sunday’s XPEL Grand Prix at Road America.
That would’ve been a solid feat on its own, but the truth was even more impressive.
After seemingly falling out of contention when Lap 1 contact sent him to the back of the 25-car field, Lundgaard and Arrow McLaren made their way through the field in a strategic race to earn a shocking last-to-first victory. (Paul Kelly / IndyCar.com)

From there, the race was Lundgaard’s to lose. The Dane had briefly found himself overtaken and behind David Malukas after his final stop, but was back ahead of Malukas when Armstrong’s woes occurred.
The race ended under caution after a fight for the final podium position went awry. Will Power and Graham Rahal collided, with Rahal getting the worst of it while Power went on to take the final podium spot for Andretti.

  • Sunday’s weekend finale seemed to go the way of Alessandro de Tullio, but AJ Foyt Racing’s cars of de Tullio and Nicholas Monteiro were disqualified when it was discovered they had each other’s tires mounted on their machines.
