NASCAR nabs new title sponsor for the Xfinity Series (NASCAR Xfinity)
NASCAR’s second series officially has its fourth naming rights partner.
The sanctioning body announced Monday that O’Reilly Auto Parts will become the title partner of what is now the Xfinity Series in 2026, taking over from Xfinity in a multiyear partnership. It will be referred to as the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series.
“Our company is rooted in the same values that define NASCAR – teamwork, enthusiasm, and dedication,” O’Reilly Auto Parts president Brent Kirby said in a release. “You’ll see those in action when our customers walk through our doors. We know they need fast service, and Team O’Reilly will get them the parts they need quickly, with excellent customer service.
“We welcome all fans to stop by our stores and see how our team can help keep them running.”
Xfinity will end an 11-year tenure as series sponsor at year’s end. The series was previously sponsored by Anheuser-Busch (1982-2007) and Nationwide (2008-2014). Races will continue to hit exclusively on The CW, which began a new broadcast partnership with the tour in late 2024.

Marcus Armstrong inks extension with Meyer Shank Racing (IndyCar)
Meyer Shank Racing has kept its driver for the 2026 season.
The company announced Monday that it had re-signed Marcus Armstrong for next year’s campaign, continuing the young Kiwi along amid a promising tenure with the organization.
Armstrong has been one of the year’s pleasant surprises, evolving into a consistent force that finds himself just two spots behind teammate Felix Rosenqvist in the championship standings. The drivers sit seventh and ninth, making for the greatest collective IndyCar season for the company since its 2017 arrival.
“I’m very pleased and grateful to be back with Meyer Shank Racing and my crew for 2026,” Armstrong said in a press release. “The professionalism and attention to detail is a benchmark throughout the field and we have certainly improved with time together, which has been great. We’ll look to build on our momentum and work hard to climb the points standings.”
The 25-year-old is in the midst of his third IndyCar season, having spent 2023 and 2024 with Chip Ganassi Racing. He’s currently on the best stretch of his young career, matching his best finish (third) in the second race at Iowa Speedway and finishing ninth or better in eight of the past nine races.
“We’re thrilled to have Marcus back for 2026,” MSR co-owner Mike Shank said. “He’s really grown a lot this season and we’re seeing that in his results as the season has gone on. His performance this year has shown that he has all the tools to fight at the front. We’re excited to continue building on this progress together.”

Matt Crafton set to retire after 2025 season (NASCAR Trucks)
After a run that’s lasted for nearly a quarter century, Matt Crafton is ready to hang up his driving gloves at year’s end.
ThorSport Racing announced Monday that Crafton, 49, will retire from full-time competition at the end of the current NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season. Defending Truck champion Ty Majeski will take over his No. 88 in 2026.
"ThorSport Racing announces a new chapter for its storied No. 88 NASCAR Truck Series entry," the team announcement read. "Three-time series champion Matt Crafton will complete his full-time role after the 2025 season. His 23-year partnership with Menards is the longest-running driver/primary sponsorship relationship in NASCAR history.”
Crafton made his debut with longtime team owner Duke Thorson in the 2000 season finale on Oct. 28, 2000, notching a ninth-place finish at the now-inactive California Speedway.
From that moment, the Californian became a stalwart of the season. Crafton has contested every round of the 25 seasons that have followed, making a combined 585 starts with 15 wins and 135 top-fives. A quiet first decade in the series gave way to a fruitful run in the 2010s, yielding a trio of Truck Series titles in 2013, 2014 and 2019. Along the way, he also made a combined seven starts between the Cup and Xfinity Series, highlighted by a one-off run in place of the injured Kyle Busch in the 2015 Daytona 500.
Crafton continued on to the 2020s, but success has been comparatively fleeting. He’s gone winless since 2020 and failed to make the playoffs in each of the past two seasons. The veteran currently sits 16th in the series standings, which would be his worst season to date if it holds to the end of the year.
(Source(s): Nick DeGroot / Motorsport)

Number of the Day: 6
Of Matt Crafton’s 15-career Truck Series wins, six (40%) came in a single season. After two consistent title runs in the prior years, the Californian kicked off his 2015 campaign with four wins in the opening 10 races before adding two more victories in the season’s final four weeks. Incredibly, that wasn’t enough to win the title. He actually came third, behind promising prospects Erik Jones and Tyler Reddick. Four years later, he secured his final title in the elimination playoff era without winning a single race. Only in NASCAR.
