Cup Series: Going into the last lap of Sunday’s late, rain-delayed showdown at Nashville Superspeedway, it was clear which team was going to win. The only question hinged on which driver would get the job done.
In the end, it was the veteran of the group.
Denny Hamlin rolled the bottom to get the best of a three-way fight among Joe Gibbs Racing drivers and claim the Cracker Barrel 400. The Virginian recovered from a jumped start penalty and surged ahead as teammates Christopher Bell and Chase Briscoe battled above him. (Holly Cain / NASCAR.com)
 
O’Reilly Series: What’s turning into a runaway regular season for Justin Allgaier and JR Motorsports yielded the group’s fourth win on Saturday.
 
Craftsman Truck Series: A late-night showdown in the Music City went the way of Layne Riggs over the weekend - but the Front Row Motorsports star had to fight to earn it.

Detroit brought tight racing, uncertainty and warm temps to challenge IndyCar’s biggest stars. Naturally, none of that affected the ever-consistent Alex Palou, who secured another pole and rode it to his fourth win on the year.(Paul Kelly / IndyCar.com)
If the Month of May offered a hint of promise for the rest of the field, Detroit served as a reminder of Palou’s dominance. He has a 62-point championship advantage heading to World Wide Technology Raceway.

Sunday’s win was Denny Hamlin’s 62nd in NASCAR Cup Series action, good for 10th all-time on the Cup Series wins list. The next triumph will tie him with the late Kyle Busch for ninth. Don’t be surprised if that win is a bit more emotional than most.
Fun fact: Hamlin is the only driver in the top 14 on the list without a championship. Only three others in the top-30 never claimed a Cup title: Junior Johnson (50 wins, tied for 14th), Mark Martin (40 wins, 20th) and Fireball Roberts (33 wins, 28th).
