Alsco Uniforms 500(k) NASCAR Cup Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The
win is his 1st of the year, 2nd win at Charlotte (first on the oval) and 7th
career win.
#11-Hamlin finished 2nd followed by
#12-Blaney, #47-Stenhouse, Jr., #1-Busch, #22-Logano, #2-Keselowski, #3-Dillon,
#19-Truex, Jr., and #4-Harvick.
Elliott passed Harvick for the lead with 27 to
go and pulled away for a win of 2.2 seconds.
The race was run Thursday night after being
postponed Wednesday night due to rain.
Pole sitter #24-Byron finished 12th. He
suffered some right side damage on pit road during the lap 20 competition
caution after contact with #32-Lajoie.
Stage 1 was won by #22-Logano. Stage 2 was won
by #88-Bowman.
There were 15 lead changes among 8 drivers and
7 cautions for 37 yellow flag laps.
The race was red flagged for 1 hour, 14
minutes on lap 30 because of lightning in the area and some light rain.
The average speed of the race was: 125.315mph.

NASCAR Cup Series race postponed due to rain (NASCAR Cup)
For the second time in five days, Chase Elliott found himself driving off to a potential win with the laps winding down at Charlotte Motor Speedway. This time there was no caution.
Elliott overtook an ill-handling Kevin Harvick over the final run and held the lead from there to win the Alsco Uniforms 500. The result was his seventh career victory and first of 2020. It also made Elliott the first driver to win Cup races on both Charlotte’s oval and Roval layouts.
Denny Hamlin followed in second after a late march through the top-10. Ryan Blaney came home third, with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Kurt Busch rounding out the top-five. Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski, Austin Dillon, Martin Truex Jr. and Harvick completed the top-10. Complete results can be seen here.
Thursday’s race was run a day late after rain forced NASCAR to postpone the planned Wednesday date. Rain and lightning threatened Charlotte again, causing a 74-minute hiatus early in the running. But NASCAR was able to return to action without losing the track.
The race ran to completion from there, and Elliott earned a small bit of revenge for Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600, where he led with two to go before a caution and pit stop lost him the race.

Eldora Speedway announces streaming Late Model race (DLM)
The Dirt Late Model Dream won’t be held in 2020, but that isn’t stopping Eldora Speedway from entertaining its fanbase in just a few days.
Speedway officials received approval for its plans to restart racing on Thursday, and kicked off plans for the 2020 season with a non-spectator event on June 4-6. The racing will be known as the Dirt Late Model Stream Invitational, a weekend of racing culminating in a $50,000-to-win, 67-lap feature.
Flo Racing will stream the event, providing an avenue for fans to watch racing at the famed half-mile dirt oval even though they can’t attend. Full programs will be held on all three days, including $10,000-to-win features on the opening two nights. Stars of various Dirt Late Model tours will participate.
“We are excited and thankful to have the opportunity to put on what we believe will be the marquee dirt late model race of the entire summer,” track owner Tony Stewart said in a release. “Our partnership with FloSports allows us to deliver to our loyal fans and competitors, both the lifeblood of Eldora.
KTM wraps up first MotoGP test since hiatus (MotoGP)
With most of the series based out of Italy, MotoGP has been one of the tours hit hardest by the coronavirus since the beginning of March, with its opening 11 events scrubbed from the schedule. But KTM showcased the series making its first steps back to normalcy at the Red Bull Ring this week.
The team became the first MotoGP to complete a test since the hiatus began this week, running for two days at the host of the Austrian Grand Prix. KTM’s move came as Austria begins to ease lockdown restrictions, allowing both Dani Pedrosa and Pol Espargaro to complete laps with a crew of 20 people, all of which tested negative for COVID-19.
“I don’t think I have ever been so long without a bike – especially one for competition – so it was a little bit difficult in the first few runs yesterday but I was quickly up to the kind of rhythm I was setting in Qatar,” Espargaro said.
“It was great to get back in action and I think we all felt that: there were a lot of smiling faces in the box. Technically we made some improvements. The first priority was to get our feeling back with the bike but we also brought quite a lot to test and this was interesting.
“The good weather meant we could play with a lot on the bike and we improved mostly with the chassis but also some electronics. I’m really happy. Now just to look forward to the first race.”
MotoGP still has a steady climb toward a return to racing. Current plans for the worldwide tour include a competitive restart on July 19 at Jerez.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. quietly notched his second top-five in that past six races on Thursday. Not only is that more than he managed last year with Roush Fenway Racing, but it's also more top-fives than he managed on intermediate ovals in his entire seven-year stretch with the Ford organization. Of Stenhouse's 15 Cup top-fives prior to 2020, five came on short tracks, seven arrived at draft-heavy superspeedways and two came between the unique Phoenix Raceway and the two-mile Auto Club Speedway. Only a solitary top-five in last year's Coca-Cola 600 came on a standard 1.5-mile oval, compared to the two Stenhouse has managed at Charlotte Motor Speedway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway in his first eight races with JTG-Daugherty Racing.
