Ty Gibbs stayed out on tires under a late caution, then held on to win the Food City 500 for his first career win. Ryan Blaney was second, then Kyle Larson, Tyler Reddick and Chase Briscoe.
 
2 Champions Outdueled by Old Tires
The new Goodyear tire was a big story Sunday in Bristol. The tires laid rubber down, preventing the issues of recent years. Falloff was low enough that Ty Gibbs used 90+ lap tires to hold off Ryan Blaney and Kyle Larson for the win.

#54-Ty Gibbs won the Food City 500 NASCAR Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway. The win is the first of his career.
Pole sitter #12-Ryan Blaney finished 2nd followed by #5-Kyle Larson, #45-Tyler Reddick, #19-Chase Briscoe, #34-Todd Gilliland, #22-Joey Logano, #60-Ryan Preece, #11-Denny Hamlin, and #77-Carson Hocevar.
Blaney and Larson dominated most of the race, leading all but 31 laps among them. Blaney was leading late when a caution came out. Gibbs was among five drivers that stayed on track under caution and took the lead. He held the lead for the remainder of the race, including another late caution that forced an overtime finish.
Stages 1 & 2 were both won by #5-Kyle Larson.

Cup Series: From the early stages of the 2026 season, Ty Gibbs has been hanging around the front of the field and putting himself in contention to score his first Cup win.
Now he finally has something to show for it.

Gibbs had to survive an extra restart to make it happen after his Monster Energy sponsor twin, Riley Herbst, was given payback for an earlier spin of Kyle Busch.
 
O’Reilly Auto Parts Series: It’s been a tough rookie campaign for Cup Series newcomer Connor Zilisch, but he showed Saturday that he still has the chops to compete.

Barring unforeseen circumstances, a second playoff berth (with a real chance to contend for the title) is coming this fall.
