Hi every one,

Some one over at The Daily Click pointed out this game dev blog that
seems pretty cool. They have a few articles and some videos that I
thought you guys and girls might find interesting. The blog is
directed towards PC game design but I think a lot of the things there
talking about are pertinent to table top gaming as well. Anyway, here
is the address.

I'd be interested to know what you think.

I read through a couple of the posts and saw immediately some of the
parallels between the electronic and tabletop platforms. My favourite
is the one with the most challenge to me: There is no excuse to make
an ugly game.

Oh lordy. I can write, I can do maths, and I can analyse systems, but
put me in front of graphics software and I'll give you the visual
equivalent of two cats playing Mozart on the piano. Clunky, wilful
and possibly recognisable - but only if you're told the name of the
piece beforehand.

Thanks for the link. Now to think about how to make my game
beautiful.

I think my website's pretty good as is...needs work, but it don't need
much in the way of shiny-making...if you catch my drift.

I'm willing to offer limited assistance to anyone involved in this
project...free of charge.

One of the things I found interesting was the idea of a core game
mechanic that you build layers on top of in order to extend the game
play and keep the player interested. I know the function of the games
most people here are making are very diferant but I think the ideas
behind that video can apply to a table top game as well. Obviusly not
pointing and clicking but the idea of having layers of gameplay
building on top of one and other.
