Hi All,

I just thought I'd share my entry in 1km1kt's Cyberpunk Revival
Project. This was my second entry into the contest, something that
took a couple of days when the muse struck and just wouldn't let go.

Its a low-prep game about vengeance, and taking the fight back to the
people who betrayed you.

There's two versions of the game. One is graphics intensive (in fact
the entire game is 30 full colour, 300dpi, graphical pages), the other
is somewhat easier on download limits (monochrome, combination of text
and images, about 24 pages).

Both can be found at www.vulpinoid.com/fubar.html

I was about to compliment you on one of the best dice mechanics I've seen in a while, but then the fine print revealed you got it from Vince Baker. No matter - the best designers don't reinvent the wheel when there's no need; the art is choosing the best ideas and using them in the best way, which you've done throughout this.  All really solid ideas, stripped down and oiled up to the max.  God I wish I could design like that. Graphically, I mean (and the rest).  It takes me a couple of WEEKS to make a Word document look like it was made by a six year old.

Anyway, this is the best thing I've seen from you, so keep it up.

It was a real challenge to design something like this, and it tested
my limits.

I've got a nasty tendency to waffle on and add in superfluous detail,
but I made a conscious effort to produce a tight, quick game with a
collection of mechanisms that carefully linked with one another and
really gave a drive toward a specific genre feel.

As for the layout, I wanted to produce something with more of an edgy
and punk vibe to it. This is a game where the character's lives have
been thrown into chaos, so it made sense that the layout shouldn't be
too neat. It's just a shame that the file ends up taking so much
memory (hence the toned down version provided).

Thanks for the feedback.

Now to get on with playtesting and refining.

You're right...I'm sure it worked before.

Try http://www.vulpinoid.com/fubar.html

(sometimes Google Groups needs the "http://" added to the front of a
link.)
