Production of the film began in April 2016[10] and plans to filming were announced in the first part of August 2016, when the film had the working title "Production No. 52".[11] Sharma required several months of diction training to prepare herself for her role, as her character is from Gujarat. She describes her character as "very superficial, doesn't have any depth as a person. There is no similarity with me. But her morals and values of self-respect are something that I can relate to. But otherwise, the character is quite impulsive by nature."[12]
In an interview with The Indian Express, Khan discussed about the possible epilogue of the film; the couple had three children and moved to a small town for some time. Sejal then works as a lawyer while Harry takes time off and writes a book. The former takes the role of a working partner while the latter looks after the children.[16]
As is the template of all of Imtiaz Ali's films, travel is an important part of the journey, here too. It is a catalyst and a character; it moves the protagonists and the movie forward. The journeys his characters undertake are both onward and inward.
Adhering to his love for travel, Imtiaz Ali's new film, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma as the titular Harry and Sejal, is shot in Europe for most part and features stunning locales that will make you reach out for your passport and head out.
SRK decieves himself always and troubles his own self. Why to make and be part of cringe worthy romantic movies. Practically, Chalte Chalte should have been his last romantic gooey movie and he should be and must explore other avenues more and a lot more. He is losing the audience and the people are losing by seeing the same old stuff when the actor could have engaged in much more engaging stories and stuff. Why man Why?

I almost pushed him, to which he patronizingly replied, "Bhai, I'm also going out. Relax". And he stretched his arms further. He smiled to nobody in particular. I waited, humbled by his depth and passion. This was an event for him. My mistake.
The one actor who could internalize and perhaps justify his (younger) protagonists' un-filmable incoherent anxiety, Ranbir Kapoor, isn't a part of this film. I could feel the band of wavelength snapping during Tamasha, and this one seems to just be an empty blown-up version of Ved and Tara's aspirational Corsica stint. It's about two characters who know exactly what they are escaping from, and exactly who they are, as well as precisely who we need to see them become.
Narendra Hirawat of NH Studioz had to undersell the territorial rights of Jab Harry Met Sejal, thus making a loss for himself. Jab Harry Met Sejal performed so badly, that even the distributors who bought the rights of the film at lower prices lost a big part of their investment.
