Good Evening,

As many of you may know the McKees Rocks CDC has had an on going partnership with Coro.
Because of Coro we have been able to begin the Youth Partnership Program and ensure it has continued.
Coro fellows have been in our community for the last 2 1/2 years helping and volunteering in many
projects. Please take a few minutes to pay it forward and click the link below and share this through
your social media networks and email contacts. I did. It only took a few minutes and could mean so much

Thank You

Maribeth

Dear Partners,

As many of you now know, the President's FY 2018 budget has been released. We were aware, thanks to the NY Times there was a possibility the budget would look to eliminate funding for the Coroporation for National Community Service (CNCS).  CNCS funds Public Allies Pittsburgh, a program that Coro is proud to have been an Operating Partner of since 2006. The published budget does indeed recommend zero funding for CNCS. However, as we’ve stated before, ultimate determination of the federal budget will be made by Congress.

Ours is a strong network
and you are an integral part of it
! Together, national service champions mobilized over 4,500 calls into Congress, and engaged elected officials broadly last week in proclaiming AmeriCorps necessary to the fabric of our society. Our support in Congress is bi-partisan with deep levels of support on both sides of the aisle.

Our thanks to each of you for the action you've taken thus far
 but
we must continue to mobilize over the next several weeks

Today, I ask that you take these 3 actions:

  1. Click on this link and take 2 minutes to email your Members of Congress to request their support for national service.
  2. Forward the email below broadly to your network -- Alumni, Partner Organizations, and other strategic supporters. Ask them to also take 2 minutes to send an email today.  Volume of response matters most right now!
  3. Utilize your social media to share this alert and request.

As always,
if you are an actively serving memeber,
please keep in mind the restrictions on engaging in partisan activities or legislative lobbying on AmeriCorps time
.

We can do this.  Thank you for your continued support.

Yours In Service,
Jenn

White House budget calls for the elimination of AmeriCorps and Senior Corps. Take action now!

Dear AnnMaura,

As you may have heard, the White House's FY18 budget was sent to Congress today, and the proposal calls for the elimination of the Corporation for National and Community Service, AmeriCorps, and Senior Corps. This recommendation disregards overwhelming public support and eight decades of strong bipartisan legislative support for national service.

Click here to see my full statement on the White House budget proposal.

Now is the time to act. Congress has the opportunity to protect national service funding. Join us in asking Congress to protect the Corporation for National and Community Service, AmeriCorps and Senior Corps.

Ask your member of Congress to protect national service. It takes only two clicks to send an e-mail to Congress.

Now more than ever before, we need to rally the troops, get others involved, and ask our networks to speak out on behalf of national service programs. Please share the e-mail Congress tool with your network.

Stay tuned for future updates and additional ways to get involved. We are in this together, and we are not backing down. We can prevail.

Yours in Service,

AnnMaura Connolly
