Subject: Diversations Gathering
Reminder: Aug. 22
Greetings
At the last Diversations on July 18 (at the Green's), we decided to have a
follow-up gathering on August 22. So this is your reminder and
invitation.
Again, it will be a potluck dinner, so bring your favorite dish.
What: Diversations (Diversity Conversations)
Where: Candra Huston's residence (in Bastrop--Directions
forthcoming)
When: 7 p.m., Friday, August 22 (7-8 p.m. for food; 8 p.m. and after for
discussion
Activity: Our activity this time will focus on story-sharing.
Share a personal story (a real experience) about a significant encounter with
someone "different" than you are (different in race, ethnicity,
etc.). You may write this ahead of time and read it--or just
tell it extemporaneously.
Guidelines:
--Tell your story in the first person "I."
--Be as specific and detailed as possible (who/what/when/where/how).
--Be an active, empathetic listener to others' stories
Thanks to you all for participating. We ook forward to seeing you a week
