Zabava! (Party!) plays energetic, soulful, and rhythmically dazzling music
in the Macedonian, Bulgarian, Greek and Romani traditions. This group of
fine
musicians recreates the vibrant interplay of traditional music and dance
from these cultural crossroads. Zabava! features Bill Cope (gajda, bouzouki,
tambura), Brian Fox (tambura and guitar), Juliana Graffagna (vocals and
tambura), Rich Schultz (kaval and percussion), and Dan Auvil (tupan,
dumbek).

Yalazia was formed recently, a remarkable blend of veteran performers with
some talented newcomers. The name Yalazia comes from the Greek word
describing the blue-green color of the Aegean Sea. The sea's qualities, both
sweet and bitter, imbue the folk music of Greece, creating a raw and lyric
sound that is at the center of Yalazia's style. Yalazia is Bill Cope on
laouto, violinist Aya Davidson, singer Lily Storm, Rumen Shopov on
percussion and special guest Brian Fox on bass.

(Hmmm, I'm not sure about this lineup. The Ashkenaz web site lists it
as this: Bill Cope on laouto, violinist Aya Davidson, singer Lily Storm,
and bassist Evan Stuart, joined tonight by their friend Dan Auvil on percussion.
