Apologies for not sending an Update last week; we have been very busy
getting the Met up and running even better than before!

We have a full roster of Pre-School Workshops and Family Fun Programs
scheduled for the Fall, and registration materials and other
information went out in a big mailing. Our neglected website has
gotten an update, and you'll find more and more information and
features there in coming weeks:

http://www.childrensmet.org

Tomorrow is Met Day, a free open house kicking off a new membership
drive. Everyone is invited to check out the museum, and we'll have
crafts, raffles, live music and magic shows, food, and more. Those
paying for an annual membership at Met Day will get a special package
of goodies compliments of StonyField Farm and Lindt Chocolates.

We need to rebuild the membership ranks as quickly as possible, so
please encourage your friends and colleagues with young children to
come by. Get more info online:

Our Save the Met fundraising campaign is happily drawing to a close.
The total raised through donations and pledges reached $55,066, and
an amazing 94% of the pledges have so far come in as cash. (Please
help us hit 100% if your pledge is still outstanding!) The immediate
debts we were facing are now under control, and we should finish
paying off the back rent debt to the landlord before the end of the
month.

Most exciting is that last night we had the first meeting of the new
Met Board of Directors. The Board has almost tripled in size already,
and the new energy and ideas are invigorating.

It will always be a challenge to keep the nonprofit Met financially
viable in its mission to educate and serve the children and families
of our broad community. Encouraged by the enthusiasm and results of
the Save the Met effort and speaking for the Board, Director, and
Staff of the Met, we now feel prepared to succeed in that challenge.

This will be the last StM Update report. As always, THANK YOU for
your interest and support!
