Not every day has dramatic results like yesterday's $20,000 grant
commitment, but the continuing flow of support and new heart-felt
Pledges certainly make a dramatic statement about the community's
feelings toward the Met.

* PLEDGES = $42,981 (goal is $50,000)
* SPONSORS = 3, totaling $11,000 annually (goal is $25,000)
* BOARD MEMBERS = 11 (goal is 16)

* CASH = $994.05

Look on our Events page and you'll see some great Save the Met
fundraising activities scheduled in September.

People ask if it is useful having these occur after the August 31
deadline. The answer is a big "Yes!" for two reasons: the projected
proceeds will be part of our Save the Met presentation to the
landlord, and -- assuming the Met is declared to be Saved -- extra
funds past that point will help keep the the museum healthy and out
of future financial difficulties. Besides, the Computer Smash, Kick-a-
Thon, Derryfest Duck Drop, and other events sure sound like a lot of
fun!
