We issued a news release today covering info already shared over the
weekend: the landlord has decided that the Save the Met fundraising
and plans constitute a satisfactory response to the Demand for Rent
that started the whole process. That's a dry way of saying we won't
have to shut down August 31 because of the back rent debt! Read more

We're still behind on Corporate Sponsorships, and are crunching
numbers and reserving a final Save the Met decision until this Friday
to make sure we won't just slip into debt again. We got two more nice
commitments today, both $250 per year for three years, from Merrimac
Tile and Stone, and Northeast Flooring Solutions.

* PLEDGES = $48,291 (goal is $50,000)
* SPONSORS = 6, totaling $12,000 annually (goal is $25,000)
* BOARD MEMBERS = 17 (goal is 16)

* CASH = $2,240.50

While our previous concept for sponsorships called for bigger amounts
from fewer companies, this approach of smaller amounts from many
companies works just as well. Better, actually, when you factor in
the new sources of enthusiasm and ideas they bring to the museum.

Please do encourage the firms you patronize or partner with to
consider helping to Save the Met. They have a great and easy
opportunity to look like -- and to be -- real community heroes if
they step forward in these last few days.

THANK YOU for your interest and support!
