STL Ruby Users,

I just realized that the next meeting July 13th is my daughter's birthday so I will be out of action for that one.

Do we want to have the meeting downtown location this month or should I try to see if I can get someone else here to make room available? There is some desire to alternate between locations from time to time because of where users are located (many out west and a group downtown).

At the last meeting we talked about Steve Veit talking about Johnson, however it would be difficult for him to make it downtown, so we might need an alternate topic if we are down there.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks,

Jeff

We are happy to host downtown.

Totally offtopic:

How's your Pre working out for you? I'm not entirely thrilled: it has
some slick aspects, but also has notable deficiencies compared to a
(seemingly more primitive) Blackberry. See my blog for details.

Any ideas for topics if we have the meeting downtown?

authorization/permission strategies?

refactoring strategies?

patterns in web development?

reading code?

gems and plugins you use and why?

Amos, I picked the authorization/permission topic and put it on the
front page. (You can change it if you want -- I just wanted to get the
page updated today, so people can decide if they want to come.)

I can also spend a few minutes talking about customizing IRB.

Thanks,
Craig

I wasn't saying that I would talk about these topics. I was saying
that I would like to hear about them.

Well, what fun is that?

I can also spend a few minutes on some little things I've done to make
using Rails just a bit nicer. Let's call it Lightning Talks -- we'll
have several short talks, and anyone can discuss what they want.

sounds like a plan. Speak up if you want to talk. That way we can
drum up some interest. Who is going to Ruby Hoe Down? Anyone doing
Rails Rumble?

We should get a few more submissions for that before going with it. How
long of a talk are we thinking? Last time we didn't have much organized.
