The No Fluff conference is in town this weekend. We traditionally have
dinner at the same hotel the conference is at. It's at the Renaissance
Airport this year. Are we up for dinner? Who has contact with the No
Fluff people to ask if some of them would like to attend?

We've been doing that for the NFJS in March (this is the first time there has been a NFJS in the Fall). I think its kind of short notice, but you could try to organize something and see if there is enough interest (I can't make it).

As far as the NFJS speakers, I just emailed them directly with an invite. I probably don't have all of their email addresses, but I can send you what I've got if you try to make a go of this.

So far the tradition has been to have dinner during the Spring Gateway symposium. This is the first time there has been a Fall Gateway symposium. I've heard that the attendance for this one is going to be much less ... around 70 instead of 200. There won't be any talks on Ruby and Dave Thomas won't be there. There will be a talk on JRuby from Stuart Halloway on Saturday at 3:15.

There are seven talks on Groovy and/or Grails. I still don't understand the fascination with these over Ruby and Rails. I've yet to hear anything compelling that they have that can't be obtained from Ruby, JRuby and Rails. I plan to attend most of those talks and try to figure it out. If you know something compelling about them, I'd like to hear about it.
