Hi all!
Ken and I have signed up to go on this bike ride from the Sierra Club's outings calendar, and I thought I'd mention it here in case anyone's interested. We'll be on our upright tandem.

Joyce,
Were you riding the tandem on the MCT Nature trail on Saturday? I was on my Xstream and a blue upright tandem passed me going the other direction. I noticed it because I rarely see a tandem on the trails.

Nope, our tandem is red!  We don't go far afield with it because we don't have an easy way to haul it other than taking it on the Metrolink or pedalling it.  We always enjoy spotting another tandem when we're out and about!

We have a RANS Crank Forward tandem. It is also red. We have a Honda van so no problem hauling it. We seldom take our bikes anywhere. Maybe a couple of time a year. Mostly stick to the MCT trails since they go right by our house. We are going down to the Tunnel Hill trail in S. Illinois this weekend. Excited about riding it since we have never been on that trail. Looks to be a beautiful Fall weekend with temps forecast around 70 degrees.

A dollar??? Is there a payment plan?  :-)

Seriously, I wouldn't mind going but I will have to wait to make a definite commitment to see how the weekend stacks up.  The disadvantage of working out of town is all the catch-up when you get back.  I'll let you know.

In other news, I'm going to put my Ice Q up for sale, this group gets the advance notice before I put it on Craigslist and BROL this weekend.  Pics at https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=C52959B56673790E&id=C52959B56673790E!6467  This British-made rear-suspension folder will find a new home for the first one presenting $1800 cash.

You'll like the Tunnel Hill Trail, John!  We rode (folders) on that with my brother and his wife for a couple of days last September.  Really nice, and interesting variety in the scenery along the trail.  We stopped at an old railroad station (perhaps between New Burnside and Harrisburg) that's been turned into a museum-- it's right next to the trail, makes a nice rest break!  There are a couple of enjoyable nature areas near the trail southwest of Vienna, a cypress swamp with boardwalks accessible via a (kind of hilly) gravel road that crosses the trail, and the Berkhausen Wetlands Center accessible on a spur trail.

It would be great to see you for the riverfront ride Mark!  Fingers crossed! :-)

Hi all,
Good news! It looks like Bree and I will make it over for the ride too. We have responsibilities at church in the morning, so we will be making a beeline path to the ride start as soon as service ends. Inevitably we will be arriving at 1pm, or possibly even a few minutes after.

Bree had gall bladder surgery about a month ago, so this is only her second ride since then. We may need to turn and double back at some point, but we are grownups and can do this without special assistance if needed. :-)

We rode 12 miles last weekend, the only difficulty was riding the last half with a tummy full of cherry pie. Is there no end to our suffering??

See you there.

I think three of us will be there as well. Two recumbents and an upright. We may only ride part of it, too.
