Is anyone else excited about this?  Their demos are really impressive.

Finally.

Famo.us is launching April 9.

Save the date: Our next meetup, on April 9 at the Folsom Street Foundry in San Francisco, will also mark the beginning of our public beta rollout.

We have space for 300 and our last event sold out in minutes, with more than 2,000 people on the waitlist. Mark your calendar to be sure you don't miss out!

Tickets will be released on April 2 at 11am Pacific Time. More details to follow.

FAQ Part 1: The Basics

A MUST READ: In this week's newsletter, we are sharing the first of several installments of FAQs gathered and answered by our CEO Steve Newcomb. In this week's installment, Steve answers the the most common high-level questions to help you understand the basics about Famo.us in a 12-page Google Doc that everyone can access.

In the coming weeks, Steve will continue to personally answer the FAQs. He will, as always, include his personal email for anyone with questions.

How long does it take to learn Famo.us?

Based on our experience with Hack Reactor students and private beta participants, this timeline is typical:

30 minutes: You complete the intro lessons in Famo.us University.

Hour 2: You build your first app example with physics animations.

Hour 3: You can learn new techniques by reading Famo.us source code for any of the 40 example app interfaces in our gallery. You can also easily read and understand the reference documentation.

Then until sunrise: You look through the examples to get inspired. You work all night to build your first app, and it’s awesome.

1 week: You can build any of the animation example demos, you’ve mastered the concepts of Famo.us, and you’ve submitted some animation demos of your own to the community gallery.

2 weeks: You feel empowered to begin your own project in earnest with hopes of building an award-winning app.

1 month: You never look back.

Get hands-on at the Famo.us Hackathon

On May 21, compete with 200 other developers to create the most boundary-pushing UI at the Famo.us Hackathon at the HTML5 Developers Conference.

The best apps, widgets, and animations will win prizes and community recognition. The best apps will also be featured on the Famo.us blog and video channels. Individuals and teams welcome.
