St Louis YCC members,
The meeting this week went well, with those present beginning the
planning of a few exciting new events. To begin, the visit to the
winery this weekend will be postponed. In its place, we will all be
meeting at the Missouri History Museum for music as part of the
Twilight Tuesdays concert series. This event is scheduled for
Tuesday, May 6,
2008 at 6:30 p.m. A message from Kenya will follow with more
information. Please pass the word around to anyone who may be
interested. As always, keep up to date with coming events by checking
the "Upcoming Events" page at
http://groups.google.com/group/stl-ycc/web/upcoming-events
Some progress has been made in the planning of this YCC's first large
event. In the third weeks of September, we'll be hosting a panel of
established "older" chemists who will impart their experience with
working in the field of chemistry. We plan to have representatives of
universities, companies, and government for an interesting bit of
perspective from all of the major career paths. The panel speakers
will be available for questions during the event. This intends to
be a relatively casual and informal event aimed at all young chemists.
The next meeting will take place in the Central West End. It will
begin at Bar Louie for one dollar burgers and move somewhere a little
quieter after dinner to discuss the progress on the September event.
Please join us and bring your ideas.
In addition to the meetings, this discussion board can be useful for
exchanging ideas. This is the place for the discussion of any event
or idea.
