A few folks had some in-depth questions about Dist::Zilla at Bill's talk tonight; rjbs (the module author) recommends #distzilla on irc.perl.org if you'd like to ping someone with anything in particular.

I'd love to see Dist::Zilla become a hugely useful thing. If Bill's
got slides up anywhere let me know so I can put 'em on Perlbuzz.

Had a funny thing happen today.  A co-worker came up to me and said, "Hey, you're into Perl.  There's this really awesome Perl tool I found that's way better than grep.  I'll send you a link!"  :)  Ack is crossing language barriers!

I'd really like it if the language just didn't matter. Nobody says
"Hey, you're into C, there's this awesome C tool I found!"

I understand the sentiment, but I can't complain if the awesomeness of
ack (and it *is* awesome) brings people to Perl that might otherwise
dismiss it.

They're not hosted anywhere yet, but I can clean 'em up and post
them... uh... somewhere.

And yes, Dist::Zilla is good juju, and looks to have a bright future,
and we should all blow kisses to RJBS when next we see him.

One of the questions was if there was a way to have Dist::Zilla autofind prereqs.  There is a plugin on CPAN that will do this for you called Dist::Zilla::Plugin::AutoPrereq:
http://search.cpan.org/~jquelin/Dist-Zilla-Plugin-AutoPrereq-1.093190/lib/Dist/Zilla/Plugin/AutoPrereq.pm

Disclaimer 1:  I've never used this plugin, I just came across it.
Disclaimer 2:  This obviously won't work for all cases.

There was some question about how to invoke the name-generating parts of Dist::Zilla; I pinged rjbs, and he says that they require the podweaver or podpurler plugin and a # ABSTRACT comment.

And seriously, you should really follow his tweets.  Between his CPAN

argh, issues with the mac still.

Between his CPAN modules and his reviews of beer and zombie flicks, he's always got something interesting to say.
