Trying to update my old EVO, .. but every time I try to do the online
update it reboots with an exclamation point inside a triangle with the
android bot below, and it's hard to Quack a picture <g>!

Have installed PC36IMB.zip, but that SW version is still ancient so the
OTA update would be nice.

Any pointers on what this means?

Thanks!

Sounds like it's booting to recovery mode. You might be able to manually flash a new boot loader using odin. I did it a few years ago with my Epic 4G (a Galaxy S1). Odin requires a windows box. I did it from an XP VM on my Mac.

Could be, .. I seem to vaguely recall having to root it four years ago to
use the HotSpot.

Looks like odin is a full GUI, .. will check it out!

If you ever rooted, you won't be able to install a stock ROM or OTA. You have to un-root first. Usually there are YouTube videos explaining how.

First thing I tried, but the "S-ON" patch is no longer available.

The interesting part is that I DID update the system with this image:

RUU_SuperSonic_GB_Sprint_WWE_4.67.651.3_Radio_2.15.00.12.19_NV_2.33_release_234563_signed

But that is pretty old compared to the current system; might the be any
way to update to 2.3.3 manually, since OTA DNW?

Thanks!!!
