On Saturday at 10a, a Google Developer will be in town speaking about Google APIs to a local Python group.

While the talk is generically about Google APIs, the topics that would be of particular interest to Android developers include discussion of:
  • Google APIs which can be accessed through Google Play Services -- the Android API calls themselves should mirror those of the web APIs
  • Google Cloud Endpoints -- for developers writing mobile (Android, iOS) clients desiring to run their backend services on the Google Cloud Platform, specifically Google App Engine. Cloud Endpoints will: 1) build API endpoints to a server backend, 2) generate boilerplate code in Java for Android, Obj-C for iOS, and JS for mobile web client access.
Google's most recent cloud course on Udacity teaches users how to build a mobile backend service using Java on App Engine and Cloud Endpoints, and the corresponding Android app is available in the Play Store

I won't be able to attend, but feel free to plug our group if you go. :)
