TAO Drummers of Japan
Coming to Lyndonville
Kingdom County Productions will present THE TAO DRUMMERS OF JAPAN, 7PM, Tuesday, April 1st at Lyndon Institute Auditorium. In this new production for North America, athletic bodies and colorful costumes meet explosive traditional Japanese Taiko drumming and innovative choreography in a show that is characterized by precision, energy, and stamina. With hundreds of sold-out shows and more than a million spectators, TAO has proven that modern entertainment based on the traditional art of Japanese drumming, has massive international appeal.
The stars of TAO live and train at a compound in the mountains of Japan, reaching the highest level of virtuosity only after years of intensive study. The performers each bring nontraditional flair to the group by drawing on their diverse backgrounds: one as a hard rock musician, another a gymnast, and yet another as a composer. They offer a young and vibrantly modern take on a traditional art form.
Sponsors include Concept 2, James V. McFaul, Esq, Frank Miller, Community National Bank, St. J. Food Coop, Wildflower Inn, John Vinton, Milligan Construction and Slate Roofing.
Media Sponsors: Vermont Broadcast Associates and Vermont Public Radio.
Tickets for the April 1st show are available at the Catamount Arts Box Office or by calling 802-748-2600. Online sales are available at KingdomCounty.org. For group sales and information, contact KCP series producer Jay Craven (jcr...@marlboro.edu).
