St. J. Food Co-op Presents Gluten-Free Open House
The St. J. Food Co-op located at 490 Portland St., St. Johnsbury VT will be holding a gluten-free open house on Saturday, December 19 from 10 am – 2pm. This event will offer all community members an opportunity to sample many different gluten-free foods.
This free, December mini-event is offered just in time for the holidays. “Celiac disease and gluten intolerances are being more frequently diagnosed. Many people are searching for gluten-free products. We want to make it easier for customers to locate these foods and by sampling them out it gives customers a chance to discover what they like” explains co-op employee Melissa Bridges.
The St. J. Food Co-op carries more than 50 gluten free alternatives such as all purpose baking mixes, cereals, granolas, breads, pasta, pizza, bread crumbs, crackers and other snacks. In addition to these grocery items the co-op also carries fresh baked goods from local bakeries. West Meadow Bakery in Essex, VT delivers gluten free bagels, pizza crusts, muffins and breads every Tuesday. D’s Delights in Bethlehem, NH provides the co-op with gluten free brownies, peanut butter bars and granola bars. D’s Delights also offers an extensive line of gluten free items from English Muffins to pies, all of which can be specially ordered through the co-op. At Your Service is a Lyndonville business that bakes a variety of gluten free macaroons sold individually and in holiday gift packs.
Stop by the St. J. Food Co-op on Saturday, December 12 between 10 am – 2 pm to sample many of these gluten free foods and to pick-up or order something special for the holidays.
