In Instant Misunderstanding, past and present collide in a whirlwind of sandwiches, phone conferences, tea, and computer commands - as two brothers, Johannes and Johannes Gutenberg, struggle to invent the internet and propel themselves into a confusing and uncertain future.
The play was conceived and will be performed by William Bowling and Christopher Kaminstein, and it was written by the duo and Northeast Kingdom native and collaborator Sascha Stanton-Craven whose credits include writer/editor at The Onion, Adult Swim, Queen City Radio Hour and Windy Acres.
The world-of-mouth hit of the 2012 New Orleans Fringe Festival, Instant Misunderstanding was nominated as Best Original Work, Big Easy Theater Awards.
The New Orleans Times-Pacayune wrote, "As the players rip breathlessly through perfectly choreographed slapstick, the central narrative is craftily revealed: a question about how technology affects communication, image and our perception of reality, and whether the tail is, in fact, wagging the dog."
