but Ian not sure that many people were made aware of the impact this
change will have future improvements for cyclists and pedestrians
coming and going from Assiniboine park or for those traveling east
west on Bruce. (which is currently part of the north assiniboine
parkway.

I just noticed that there is an agenda item on tomorrow mornings
Infrstrcuture Renewal and Public Works meeting for the removal of
Overdale from the North Winnipeg Parkway. Not sure where this is
coming from, but it does not seem like a great idea.

Here is the decision making history on the agenda item
On September 14, 2010, the Assiniboia Community Committee passed the
following motion:
WHEREAS Council on April 24, 2006 concurred in the recommendation
contained in Item No.
21 of the Standing Policy Committee on Property and Development’s
report dated April 4, 2006
- The Winnipeg Parkway System Review;
AND WHEREAS the Winnipeg Parkway System Review report recommended that
the North
Assiniboine Parkway be routed up Overdale Street, north of the Portage
Avenue entrance to
Assiniboine Park, to Bruce Avenue and that the Parkway would continue
west along Bruce
Avenue to Grace Hospital and Sturgeon Creek Greenway via Booth Drive;
AND WHEREAS the 2010 Active Transportation Plan that is currently
being implemented
creates a north and south connection as well as an east and west
connection, namely, Berry Street
and the Yellow Ribbon Greenway Trail respectively;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Assiniboia Community Committee
recommends that
the Council decision of April 26, 2006 be amended to reflect the
deletion of the Overdale Street
route from the North Assiniboine Parkway,
and forwarded the matter to the Standing Policy Committee on
Infrastructure Renewal and
Public Works.
