Ihave a Inspiron 5676 that was working basically fine except windows updates weren't running. Rather than trying to mess with the guts of windows to fix it, I upgraded to windows 11 (this machine is listed on the "tested for upgrade to windows 11" list) and then (since some problems remained) I did a windows reset. That fixed my update problems, but now my front headphone jack doesn't detect when phones are plugged in. My sound (external speakers) otherwise works ok.
Previously, I would use the preinstalled MaxxAudioPro to switch on the headphone jack, and it worked fine. When I tried to bring it up after resetting, it sent me over to the windows store to get the program, and it fails to install from the windows store. I ran the Realtek audio driver install on Dell support (that went fine), and the MaxxAudioPro install, which took me back to the windows store, where it failed to install.
Needless to say, waiting a bit and trying again doesn't help. Searching for this error code gives suggestions for turning off antivirus (I'm running windows defender; I tried turning it off, no change) or turning on personal firewall (I tried with it on and off, no change).
One curious thing, the windows store description of the app says "Approximate size: 52.9MB" but the progress meter only says "downloading 65.00 KB of 65.00 KB"; The windows store logs suggest that 65kb and not 52MB were downloaded:
By searching online (not on the windows store), I can find links to other versions of MaxxAudo Pro - the version for my machine is 1.1.131.0, links can be found for 2.something and 4.something versions; I was able to install those but they don't do anything, so I'm guessing they're not the right version for my hardware, and I'd prefer to stick with the right preinstalled version (except that it isn't preinstalled any more).
Well, I managed to solve my problem through trial and error. I'll post what I did in the hopes that someone else might find it helpful, but it seems to be dumb luck that got me to this point. But as the saying goes, I'd rather be lucky than good.
I tried installing both of these, starting over multiple times. The Realtek driver installs, but the MaxxAudio Pro application (where the download is an app that redirects you to the microsoft store) fails to install with a mysterious error message that online searches variously suggest is related to windows update corruption, the microsoft store database, or firewalls. My own belief is that the application database on the Microsoft Store servers are corrupt and the application is not available, despite it being listed there, but I have no way to prove this. In any case, it doesn't install.
One interesting thing about the Realtek driver, is that the Windows "Speaker/Headphones Properties" dialog that shows all the jacks did not list the front panel jack or the center subwoofer rear panel jack, only the rear panel main and rear speaker jacks. So I suspect the listed Realtek driver is not the correct one for this hardware.
So instead, I tried looking for newer versions of the driver and application, knowing full well that they may not be compatible with my hardware, but also knowing that drivers often support multiple similar hardware configurations. You can find several dozen versions of the realtek driver and MaxxAudio Pro application, since my machine was not working I had little to lose by trying.
If I need to try this again (reinstalling Windows is just one of those things that happens from time to time) I would try installing the older driver versions available on the Dell support page for my hardware, rather than randomly trying newer drivers until one worked. But at this point, I'm gonna stop messing with it and get back to playing some games
And, if you do the reinstall as @fireberd suggested, disconnect all audio input/output devices first, and then reboot the PC before you start the reinstall, doing the Realtek driver first and then Waves.
When you're finally at the desktop and Waves is running, plug in each audio device, one at a time. Then wait until a Waves popup box appears where you can choose the device you plugged in, before you plug in the next audio component and then wait again for another Waves popup...
I already downloaded both from the drivers page. The realtek driver installed without problems. The Waves MaxxAudio Pro download (that isn't really a download, it's just a link to the microsoft store) fails to install.
The culprit of 0x80246007 error could be your antivirus software. Although antivirus is used for protecting your computer, some of them are not compatible with Windows 10 and even cause many problems. The appearance of the error code 0x80246007 is often caused by McAfee.
I didn't actually install it, but I downloaded the Waves file from the Support page I linked above onto my PC. When I double-click the downloaded file, it shows this recommendation to get the app from the MS store, but all I would have to do is click "Install anyway" and that should launch the installation.
Maxx stopped working for me when I upgraded from Win10 to 11. Found a fix. Had to uninstall the app; check Device Manager for "High Def Audio" (it wasn't there) to uninstall it. Found the Maxx/Realtek drivers on Dell & installed the Maxx. Rebooted PC and reinstalled Maxx from the Windows Store. Worked. Irritating to have to do since I'm not really good at doing anything but turning my PC on and using it. Glad it worked.
Solved my problem with: Acer Nitro 5, Waves maxx just gone from my laptop since few months, nothing was solving this, and this link just downloaded and installed and fixed my problem! Thank you so much guys!
Our system is comprised almost entirely of Dell desktops running a customized windows Image. One of the programs on our image is MaxxAudio Pro, which has the main function (for most users) of just popping up when they plug in a new audio device to ask them what kind of device it is, and then disappear.
On some computers, the Waves Maxx Audio program will interfere with audio recording on devices that use the Andrea Audio Commander driver. Follow these steps to disable the pre-installed Waves Maxx Audio service.
1 - Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to bring up task manager. If you don't see tabs at the top such as Processes, Performance, etc., press "More details".
2 - Select the tab labeled "Startup".
3 - Right click "Waves MaxxAudio Service Application" and select Disable. If you do not see "Waves MaxxAudio Service Application", then you don't have this program and you can close this window and skip the rest of the steps below.
4 - Select the Services tab on top and select "Open Services" at the bottom of the window.
5 - In the Services window, scroll down to WavesSysSvc, right click on it and select Properties.
6 - In the new window that pops up, change the startup type to Maunal. Select Apply then OK.
7 - Open Device Manager by pressing the windows button+X (at the same time) then select "Device Manager".
8 - Click the arrow next to "Sound, video and game controllers" to expand the selection.
9 - Make sure your USB soundcard or USB microphone is plugged in. Under "Sound, video and game controllers" right click on Andrea PureAudio USB-SA and select "Uninstall device".
10 - Check the box in the popup window that says "Delete the driver software for this device" then select Uninstall.
11 - Unplug your microphone or USB soundcard and restart the computer, with the microphone or USB soundcard unplugged.
12 - Once the computer is restarted, open your browser of choice and navigate to _tech.exe

So, almost every time I open the Spotify desktop app and play a song on my windows computer the camera turns on. My computer notifies me of this on-screen and the camera light turns on. When I close Spotify, I get a notification that my camera has turned off and the light turns off. I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. I downloaded the app from the Microsoft Store. I have also searched my settings, both in the Spotify app and on my computer.
I have looked at other posts on this or similar topics and there is never a real answer. Always just uninstall and reinstall, which I did and it didn't work. I don't have this issue with any other application.
2. When joining a Zoom meeting through their Outlook calendar, Zoom seems to disable the audio devices altogether. Zoom says that it is unable to detect audio devices and to switch to another device. This issue persists after the meeting has ended and then the PC will not play any audio. The sound devices are still listed in the device manager.
3. When the PC is rebooted, the audio comes back. When starting a meeting from the Zoom desktop client, the problem does not occur. This seems to only occur when the meeting is joined via invite link on an Outlook calendar.
This is a pretty common issue here at Zoom when a new OS is incorporated into our software. I would check with NVIDIA on their page and see if they have a new driver for that system. Zoom uses some pretty aggressive compression algorithms to suppress outside noise in a Zoom meeting and we see from time to time that a new driver is needed when a system is updated to a new Windows or mac OS.
