Yesyes I did. Sometimes I wish I could use the origin version of the sims 3 and just do a physical install of ambitions and play the game that way but according to the sims site, that's unable to happen.

EDIT 2: ok, so I did a full uninstall of sims 3 and everything I had with it to run a test to see if the sims 3 ambitions expansion pack on mine was corrupted, all I did was install sims 3 then ambitions and it wont show. Just thought to let ya know.

I don't work or have any association with EA. I give advice to the best of my knowledge and cannot be held responsible for any damage done to your computer/game.

Please only contact me via PM when asked to do so.

2. I do have the disc version of Ambitions (along with every other expansion and 2 stuff, and one from origin) and ambitions was working before origin kept saying that the sims 3 needed to update and decided to remove everything. Basically forcing me to reinstall everything, which was when the problems started to arise.

3. By base game I assume you mean the current version? I believe it's version 1.69.43.024017, if the base version is needed with no expansions or stuff packs I would have to install the game on a different computer to provide the correct answer.

Ten times to be truthful, I tried to repair it ten times on origin and it still doesn't want to show up no matter what I try, as for doing a manual installation of sims 3 ambitions, I tried to install it into the origin folder, which worked for a moment until Origin said that the version was out of date and removed it, and after doing an uninstallation of it on origin and reinstallation as well, I always check on the 'Expansions & Stuff' tab and arrange it by title, which seems to put them in alphabetical order and it still doesn't show up as activate or anything., I will also provide a screenshot or two of what I currently see on my origin panel and on my launcher of the sims 3.

I've got the exact same problem aswell.

World Adventures and Ambitions are not showing up in the game launcher. They are regarded as installed in Origin and the files show up inside of the installation directory.

Tried literally everything in this thread with the exception of reporting it through Origin Error Reporter. I had to reinstall the game due to factory reset, discovered that the game refused to launch the expansion packs, searched around a bit and found this thread.

Perhaps it's worth noting that I have physical copies of about half of my expansion packs, which includes those two EPs. I registered them all on Origin not too long ago I believe, but here's an interesting twist to it: my computer won't read neither of those two discs, while all the others work fine.

In Sims 3 Ambitions (private investigator profession) how I abandon a case? My Sim is supposed to do a stake out at Smuggler's Cove (Bridgeport) and I've tried it about 15 times, at different times of day, but she never finds anything.

I logged into my hair model save and had one of my sims join the profession. Two game days later he still did not get a case, so I was doing work on my computer and letting sims run in the background.

When I checked on it five minutes later, half my household was dead and the other half singed and the grim reaper was there collecting souls. It seems while I was working, I had my very first meteor strike in game and I completely missed it. :p

Job related content or rather, the distinct lack thereof has traditionally been a huge gaping hole in every single Sims game. Normally your sims choose a career path: Medical, business, food, whatever. In terms of gameplay, that career consists of little more than vanishing into a building for about 8 gameplay hours 5 days a week. Assuming that all of your sims have a regular job/school, that is almost a fourth of the game per sim spent doing almost nothing.

With the release of Sims 3 last June, EA delivered a revamped, gorgeous, if somewhat empty feeling Threequel to their obscenely popular franchise and sales, predictably, went through the roof. Close to one and a half million units sold in the first week of release alone and the game dominated PC sales charts in 2009; it has been riding consistently high in many territories ever since.

With Ambitions, players can pursue a variety of careers, maintaining direct control of their Sims while at their jobs, giving them control of how their Sims spend their days. As always, how you play is up to you, so while the player has the choice of being a valiant doctor, saving lives and being as sparkly eyed as Dick Van Dyke on meds, others can fulfil their deliciously evil ambitions by testing out experimental medication on their patients, presumably with some nasty yet-to-be-revealed side-effects.

As for one of the most buzz-creating reveals so far, for those desperate to don a boiler suit and live out their Peter Venkman fantasies, there is a ghost-busting career just waiting for you to bring your tools and talent to the fore, hunting down vengeful spirits and making sure that any flowers are still standing.

And for those players who like their Sims to have a fat property portfolio to keep the riches rolling in while they potter around in their underwear, playing computer games, the real-estate system has been given a makeover:

I am an extreme sims fan out there searching and buying every expansion that was released. Me and my sister teamed up so that we could get as many games togerther so that was a big help. I cant wait till this game. I first found out about this game from my sister. I went searching for days about information on the release. Originally, i heard it was in the summer. After searching, i finally found that it was being released in june which made me so optimistic looking forward to everyday that passed by.

I know i sound like one of those people who sit at home all day and do nothing but play this game, but i am not. Also, I really miss sims 2: uni and seasons. they were awesome. I lvoed going out in the fall raking up those leave or playing in the snow if the winter. I always loved business. Open for business was the perfect pack. I loved the fact that i could open up my own store.

i love all the sims but i have to say i got bored with sims 3 very quickly i was disapointed that u could not go into some of the buildings on the community lots, hopefully in the future the creators will sort this out!! and come on we need appartment life back again. and also more people moving into the towns!!

The Ambition of a kingdom is the overall goal that the Watcher wants the kingdom to achieve by the time it runs out of Quest Points. Depending on how well a kingdom achieves its ambition, a bronze, silver, gold, or platinum medal is earned, adding points to the Watcher Achievement Level and unlocking further ambitions. The "An Eternal Kingdom ambition" was added in patch 1.3. Buying the adventure pack, "The Sims Medieval: Pirates and Nobles", will unlock another new ambition, Peacemaker.

While playing Sims games of yore, sending your little computer people off to work was a straightforward process: The carpool drove up, and you waved good-bye to your digital self, who then earned simoleans by doing unseen tasks in some unseen work environment. In the Sims 3, you could exert minimal control, but your sims' workday tasks were hidden safely under the hood. The Sims 3: Ambitions changes that. Now, with the addition of professions--as opposed to careers--you no longer need to wait patiently for your sims to return from work before you can set your evil (or altruistic) plans in motion. Work tasks are now integrated into your sims' daily lives, sending you about town to accomplish such tasks as solving mysteries, fighting fires, and capturing ghosts. This expansion adds other goodies to the main game as well, from new hobbies to new public lots. None of these extras are as unexpected or game-changing as the additions made by The Sims 3's first expansion, World Adventures, but you shouldn't sell this expansion short. Ambitions alters the moment-to-moment gameplay in fun and refreshing ways, and Sims fanatics needing more to tinker with in their digital dollhouses will want to pick it up.

The most obvious way Ambitions enhances The Sims 3 is with professions. By choosing a profession rather than a career, you receive job-related tasks on your designated workdays that you perform to earn simoleans. These objectives are generally fun and clever role-playing-type missions typified by grin-inducing writing and a touch of the bizarre. Take the ghost-hunting profession, for example. Paranormal investigation involves sucking up spirits into your portable ghost vacuum, though as you progress, you encounter a greater variety of jobs. For some extra cash you could sell the lost souls you collect to the local lab, but if you look kindly upon these groaning ghouls, you may prefer to set them free in a nearby graveyard. If you'd rather pursue a more earthly personality, you could always be an investigator. Your initial assignments are fun and funny, having you interview clients who may inform you that a nemesis is talking smack on some Internet forum or that some mouthwash has gone missing. As you rise up the ladder, you dust for fingerprints, hack computers, write police reports, and root through your neighbors' trash. Though you should expect to do some low-level grunt work for the police station early on, you might eventually set up your very own investigations office. You could be an architect, a stylist, a firefighter, and more, but no matter which you choose, you'll enjoy meeting your clients and completing your objectives. City hall may even have some substantial rewards in store for you for a job well done.
