Ilive for Favorite Things parties. I hosted my first Favorite Things Party a couple of years ago to celebrate the launch of my book, Eat More Dessert. It was such a blast we did it again as a Christmas party and have turned it into an annual event ever since.

This past spring my girlfriends were chatting about what summer party I should host (we always find a reason to celebrate summer). An all-girls summer Favorite Things party came up. It took about thirty seconds for everyone to find a date that worked and pencil it into their calendar.

A Summer Favorite Things party is a great excuse for a fun night with friends. The best part is, it can be tailored to fit any budget, style or theme! To began the planning process, nail down a few must haves for your event. It helps give the party an outline and a starting point. My party essentials are: creative decor, good food, fun drinks, delicious dessert and an interactive activity:

The first step is the invite. My incredibly talented friend Erica of Harper Gray Designs heard my request and designed something perfect for the event. I had expressed my hope of flamingos, fruit and fun summer colors. As usual, she created an absolutely incredible invitation!

One thing a lot of people miss when hosting parties is music. I try to stick to all five senses when entertaining. Sound is a big one!! Make a fun party playlist for your event and turn up the music! I love Ultimate Ears wireless, bluetooth outdoor speakers, they even matched the party and lent fun tunes throughout the night.

Another simple way to spruce up your beverage area is to add fresh fruit to water dispensers. We added watermelon and orange slices to our water. It adds the tiniest hint of flavor and looks so pretty!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this idea! There are so many great takeaways from it.

I do have one question, forgive me if I missed it above, but the pineapple print you had from Shutterfly? Was it a print you had done as a canvas or something you order direct from them? I love that and it would be perfect in my office!!

Thanks Megan!! I should have clarified with the shutterfly print! I uploaded a design that Erica of Harper Gray had made (it was the inside of the invite envelopes). It was so cute I made it into a print! I bet she could probably custom design something perfect for your office! (he...@harpergray.net)

Oh my goodness what a fun, creative, and beautiful party. Bravo! May I please be your friend lol? So cute, I too would love to see a list of all the items people brought always fun to discover new favorites. Thanks for sharing your party, you are incredibly talented. Hosting can be exhausting hope you were able to enjoy the fun a bit yourself.

Please do set-up a pre-approval feature on the comment section. The childish bickering ruins the experience, and I see how much deleting you have to do when people go off the rails. Many blogs do this in order to keep things on track. It would make HBH so much better, in so many ways.

Sara is correct, JoyFoodSunshine has a filter on her comments and she usually approves the legit ones within a day. It takes nothing away for the engagement, but really keeps things respectful and on topic. If you had this type of setup, the hateful comments would dwindle, because they would never see the light of day.

I would love to be able to come back here and share cooking tips with other readers, but it has just gotten too unpleasant as of late. It would be wonderful if you could moderate the comments before posting them, and have filters in place to prevent the personal attacks.

Yeeeeesssss! I am all about a pre-approval filter on the comments. I want to come back too, but I have been laying low because of the hate group that took over this blog. I got belittled by them as well.

I then headed off to the airport with my friend Kristen (Kilpatrick). We said our goodbyes (not my favorite), and before I could blink, I was off. I fell asleep the second we took off and before I knew it I was back in Colorado.

So the best way to enjoy those items that excite you is to only own your favorite things. It's unnecessary to own everything to have it all. Examine the items in your life that you use daily. Are they your favorite? If not, why do you have it?

For example, my love for coloring as a child has grown into being creative by painting, crafting, and is expanding into making accessories for my wardrobe. See, as I matured, my creativity did as well, and yet, I am still excited to spend time in my studio creating something.

I also have a curio cabinet and a printer's drawer where I display souvenirs from travels my husband and I took. Again, these are mementos of times shared with family and friends that bring back fond recollections of stories to share with others. Having items around you that make you smile and bring you joy are ways to make each day special.

Analyze your credit card statements, book collections, subscriptions, movies, and music. Do any subjects emerge? What topics do you find yourself drawn to most frequently? What are you presently focusing your time, resources, and efforts on? What themes have appeared repeatedly throughout your life?

Check-in with your heart and your body as much as you can, rather than your mind. Anything that, in a sense, lights you up? Do you get a sense of physical expansion? When you think about a particular subject or possibility, do you get excited or possibly even a little anxious? They are all encouraging indicators.

Keep in mind that your emotions frequently defy reason and reasoning. It's crucial to focus on your physical body and your heart when examining these concerns. Beyond what your mind can comprehend, you endow your heart with wisdom.

If you don't like something moving forward, you have three options: stop doing it, have another person do it, or love it with all of your heart. When you decide to love whatever you do, you build intuition muscles and create a channel for the divine to whisper to you.

Keep in mind that humans are creatures of habit. You can't spend eighty percent of the day being grumpy, whining, and miserable and then expect to spend the final twenty percent of the day being excited. You want to enjoy each day of your life in its entirety.

Do you need help to love the life you have? Are you looking for support to empower yourself to move forward? Do you want a strategy to help you create an extraordinary life? If you believe you cannot proceed alone, think about seeking my coaching services by getting in touch with me, at TerriKozlowski.com, and we can put together an action plan for you to add your favorite things to your daily life and love the life you have.

As our group has grown eight women, someone suggested buying half the number of the gifts to keep costs a little lower. This worked well and this year we were each responsible for buying four $10 gifts. On the night of our Favorite Things dinner, we simply passed the four gifts we brought to the four women on our left. Trading and swapping is totally fine once all the gifts are opened.

My name is Julie and I am a full-time blogger, new mama, fitness enthusiast (certified personal trainer and group exercise instructor) and food fanatic (mostly healthy... but also not-so-healthy) living in North Carolina with my husband, dog and baby boy. Thank you for visiting Peanut Butter Fingers! I hope you enjoy little glimpses into my life and have fun trying the sweaty workouts I frequently share and making some of my favorite recipes along the way!

Favorite Things with Pat Prescott is a four-hour weekday program highlighting Pat's favorite songs and artists, crafted around themes, interviews with musicians and celebrities who will share their favorite things as well. There will even be an opportunity for listeners to weigh in too.

"Oprah's Favorite Things" was an annual segment that appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show from the 1990s to 2008 and 2010, as well as on Rachael Ray in 2017. In the segment, which airs during Thanksgiving week and was inspired by the holiday song "My Favorite Things" from The Sound of Music, Oprah Winfrey shared products with her audience that she felt were noteworthy or that would make a great gift. In addition, the audience members that were present during the taping of the episode receive items from that year's list for free.

The term is also sometimes used to describe a similar feature in O, The Oprah Magazine; while that may formally have been named "The O List" in the past, it has more recently shared the "Oprah's Favorite Things" name.[1][2] The two features are often coordinated.

The items presented in the 2002 episode were included in one of four categories: food favorites; beauty and body care; books, music and home; and high-tech discoveries. The items included on the list were:

The Favorite Things show aired November 20, 2007.[8] It returned to the original format in previous years. The 2007 episode was filmed in Macon, Georgia in the Macon City Auditorium on November 17, 2007. "The Oprah Winfrey Show" has been national since 1986, Macon has been its number one market. At any time, 45 percent of the households in Macon, Georgia, at four o'clock, watching Oprah Winfrey.

The usual show aired November 26, 2008, one day before Thanksgiving; however, it did not follow the usual format of lavish gifts. Instead, owing to the nation's economic difficulties (Winfrey said that she could not in good conscience give away lavish gifts in such a time of economic trouble), this year's episode would be entitled "How to Have the Thriftiest Holiday Ever!" (described as Oprah's Favorite Things... with a twist!) All the giveaways cost "next to nothing" and emphasized do-it-yourself craftsmanship. Because of the personal nature of many of these gifts, this was the first year that audience members did not receive many of the actual gifts, though they did receive the book and the album.
