Bhavani Sre is an Indian actress, director and playback singer who predominantly works in Tamil films.[2][3] She is known for her performances in Paava Kadhaigal, Ka Pae Ranasingam and Viduthalai Part 1.[4]
Bhavani Sre, after finishing her studies in visual communication, was interested in filmmaking and directing. So she worked as an assistant director in two films, Idhu Enna Maayam under director A. L. Vijay and Sila Samayangalil under director Priyadarshan. She also directed a few independent short films.
Later, she developed an interest in acting and modeling. She made her debut as an actress through the 2019 Telugu webseries High Priestess, which was released on ZEE5.[6] In 2020, she acted in Vijay Sethupathi's Tamil film Ka Pae Ranasingam, which was her Tamil debut as an actress.[7] She sang three songs in the 2020 Tamil anthology film Putham Pudhu Kaalai.[8] She has acted in Sudha Kongara's segment Thangam in the Tamil anthology film Paava Kadhaigal, which was released on Netflix.[9]
Principal photography began in August 2021. The second schedule was postponed so many times, the shooting resumed in July 2022.[11] Major portions of Silambarasan were shot near Bellary Palace in the Mysore district in Karnataka.[12] In October 2022, it was reported that the Karnataka schedule of the film was wrapped.[13] The third schedule of the film began in Chennai on 13 August 2022 with Gautham Karthik joining the sets.[14][15] The final schedule of the film was reported to begin in July and was reported to complete in August 2022.[16] On 23 November 2022, the entire shooting of the film was wrapped.[17][18] Despite the film's three year delay, Silambarasan said that "he was determined that I should finish this film for Gautham Karthik's sake".[19]
Logesh Balachandran of The Times of India gave the film 3 out of 5 and wrote "Pathu Thala may not be a great film for those who have watched the original, but it's still worth watching for the lead actors and some standout moments."[32] Janani K of India Today gave the film 2.5 out of 5 and wrote "Pathu Thala could have been an intriguing gangster drama if only it had done away with predictable elements."[33]
G. V. Prakash Kumar is an Indian music composer, playback singer, actor and producer known for his work in Tamil films and a few Telugu films as well.[3][4] His first film was S Pictures' Veyil (2006) and he gained fame in Tamil films by the early 2010s.[5][6] He made his debut in acting on 2015 through Darling.[7] He has won one National Award and three Filmfare Awards in his film career.[8]
Prakash Kumar is the only son of G. Venkatesh and playback singer A. R. Reihana, who is the elder sister of music director A. R. Rahman.[9] He also has a younger sister named Bhavani Sre, who is an actress and appeared in films/series such as Viduthalai: Part 1, Ka Pae Ranasingam and Paava Kadhaigal.
He first appeared as a vocalist on the soundtrack of director S. Shankar's Tamil film Gentleman (1993), composed by his maternal uncle, A. R. Rahman. He has also contributed to some of Rahman's other projects.[12] He had also worked with Harris Jayaraj and sang two songs in Anniyan (2005) and Unnale Unnale (2007).
G.V. Prakash's introduction as a film composer was in the critically acclaimed Tamil film Veyil (2006) directed by Vasanthabalan and produced by director S. Shankar. His music in the film Madrasapattinam (2010), directed by A. L. Vijay was appreciated, especially his song "Pookal Pookum Tharunam".
He went on to win critical acclaim for his music in Selvaraghavan's fantasy action adventure film Aayirathil Oruvan (2009), National award winning Aadukalam (2010) and drama film Mayakkam Enna (2011), which became his third collaboration that featured Dhanush in the lead role. The album's five songs were written by Selvaraghavan and Dhanush, with the pair also coming together to sing the song "Kadhal En Kadhal". The album also included the song "Pirai Thedum", which Prakash sang himself along with his fiancée, Saindhavi whilst another song "Voda Voda Voda", written and sung by Dhanush, was composed in just 5 minutes and recorded within an hour.[13] Rediff.com reviewed the soundtrack claiming that Prakash had "tried very hard to walk away from his comfort zone and provide the kind of edgy numbers Selvaraghavan demands, and has risen to the challenge".[14] Critics from entertainment portal Behindwoods.com cited that Prakash "reiterates his talent once again" and gave a verdict that the album is "intoxicating enough".[15] In late September 2011, a single track "Oru Murai", written by Thamarai and composed and sung by Prakash in R. S. Infotainment's Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal (2012) was released. His subsequent releases include the political satire Saguni (2012) and the background score of the Hindi crime film Gangs of Wasseypur and also composed Sunrisers Hyderabad's first anthem. Songs of the movie Darling (2015) were hits. Especially "Vandha Mala", "Anbe Anbe" and "Sattunu Idi Mazhai".This is also the debut film for Prakash as an actor. Prakash's songs in Kaaka Muttai (2015) were massive hits. "Karuppu Karuppu" song was on charts for a few months. "Karuppu Nerathazhagi" was a huge hit from Komban (2015). G.V. Prakash signed his 50th film with director Atlee that is Vijay's 59th, which is named Theri (2016).[16]
In 2013, Prakash Kumar launched his own production house under the name "GV Prakash Kumar Productions". His first film Madha Yaanai Koottam, was directed by Vikram Sugumaran, a former assistant of Balu Mahendra.[18][19]
In 2012, director A.R. Murugadoss approached Kumar regarding a potential acting venture. Prakash agreed to star in the project, however, the film later failed to take off. He subsequently signed on to appear in three films in quick succession, with the three entering production simultaneously. In order to further his acting ability, he took lessons from actor Aadukalam Naren and has noted that his stage performances as a singer were also helpful in demonstrating his potential as an actor.[20]
Prakash was going to make his acting debut in a film titled Pencil, opposite Sri Divya, where he will be playing a school student.[21] However, as Pencil's release was delayed, his first release became the horror film Darling. A remake of the 2013 Telugu film Prema Katha Chitram. Thereafter, Trisha Illana Nayanthara (2015). The film deals with the present day definition of love and the perspective of today's youngsters of both genders about love, relationship, virginity etc.[22] In 2016, he appeared in Pencil and two comedies films Enakku Innoru Per Irukku and Kadavul Irukaan Kumaru. The next is Bruce Lee (2017). He acted in the climax sequence as cameo appearance with Silambarasan's Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan (2017). In 2018, he starred in Bala's action crime Naachiyaar. In 2019, he had five releases this year with Sarvam Thaala Mayam, Kuppathu Raja, Watchman, Sivappu Manjal Pachai and 100% Kadhal.
In 2021, his film Vanakkam Da Mappilei was a direct to OTT release.[23] It was marks the second collaboration of G. V. Prakash and Rajesh after 2016's Kadavul Irukaan Kumaru.[24] Following Bachelor and Jail were released in December.[25]
The film focuses on 'Idhayam' Murali, a happy-go-lucky light music singer, and his relationships with his longtime, one-sided love interest Madhumitha, his sister Sudarvizhi and his best friend Vinoth. Kumar was asked by Subbaraj to adapt his short film Madhu into a feature-length film due to its commercial nature. Except for Vivek Prasanna, the lead cast members of the film were replaced by Vaibhav and Priya for this film. Production was completed silently and the venture was first reported by the media during June 2017, with the film being shot primarily in Royapuram, Chennai.
The film's music is jointly composed by Santhosh Narayanan and Pradeep Kumar, with the latter making his composing debut in Tamil cinema, whose soundtrack album received positive response. The film features cinematography handled by Vidhu Ayyanna and editing done by Shafiq Muhammed Ali.
It was released on 18 October 2017, coinciding with Diwali, and received positive reviews from critics praising the performances of the cast, particularly that of Indhuja and Vivek, and the major technical aspects. The film was a sleeper hit at the box office.[1] Indhuja received a win for Best Supporting Actress at the 11th Ananda Vikatan Cinema Awards, while Vivek Prasanna received an award for Best Supporting Actor at the 10th Vijay Awards.
Murali, also known as 'Idhayam' Murali by his friends as he is like the emotional lead character from the film, Idhayam (1990), rings his friends, Vinoth and Kishore informing them that he is going to commit suicide, as he is not able to bear the engagement of his college mate, Madhu, whom Murali has feelings of one-sided love. In an attempt to stop his suicide, Vinoth and Kishore request Madhu to speak badly about Murali, which Madhu does hesitantly. On hearing this, Murali feels outraged and cancels his suicide attempt. He also believes that Madhu is ill-mannered. However, he blabbers about Madhu and how he loved her which slightly moves Madhu. The marriage is postponed by a year.
Rathna Kumar wrote the first draft of the feature film keeping Sananth, who had starred in the short film, in mind.[4] However, the producers opted against signing a relative newcomer and chose Vaibhav to portray the lead role. To prepare for his role, Vaibhav observed the emotions and body language of real stage singers by watching videos.[5][6] As Roshni Abraham, who is currently a corporate employee had chosen not to become a feature film actress, Rathna Kumar then discussed the leading female role with Sai Pallavi, who opted against signing the film. He subsequently announced a casting call online, following which television actress Priya Bhavani Shankar got in touch. Following a successful audition, she was selected to play the leading role of Madhumitha, with Rathna Kumar stating that her on-screen "image" worked for the film.[2][4] Priya later revealed that she was keen to do the film as it had the backing of Karthik Subbaraj, whose work she liked.[7] Indhuja Ravichandran was selected to be a part of the film after impressing the director with her work in other short films, and was initially worried about her future work and image if she portrayed the sister of Vaibhav's character, before agreeing to star in the film. Vivek Prasanna was the only lead actor to retain his role from the short film.[4] The film's composer Santhosh Narayanan was keen to allow his long-time collaborator Pradeep Kumar to also work on the film as a co-composer, and played a role in bringing him into the project.[8]
