The 2013 Dinner will go down in Foundation history as earning the largest auction and raffle revenue in recent years! This was because the community really got involved and donated a wide variety of items with “something for everyone”!
In addition, the guest of honor touched the hearts of each person in the audience with his words of encouragement and inspiration. Phrases like, “The best honoree ever!” was stated more than once and, “How are you going to top this?”
Trevor Bayne, a 2-week newlywed and the youngest person to win a DAYTONA 500, won the hearts of the SMA community July 3, 2013!
A big Thanks to Ralph Sheheen who was our emcee for the evening. The chemistry was great with Ralph and the audience. If his schedule permits he has agreed to serve again next year!
The best news of all is that we raised just over $100,000 for the Foundation! This kind of support is so wonderful and will be used to help the clients of SMA.
If you haven’t been to one of these gala’s, plan on attending next year!
The Board of Directors awarded the following mini-grants to SMA Programs/Departments:
Adolescent & Adult Drug Court Incentives
Recovery Homes maintenance materials
Additional landscaping equipment
Video equipment for marketing
Keep Kids Drug Free curriculum materials
Upgrade safety devices on van for Enrichment Program
Construct outside visitation area for Reality House
WARM at VCS purchased a kiln for “Recovery through Creation” activity
Refurbish the Worktables at Enrichment Program
A total of $24,439 was allocated. This program uses 100% of the membership dues to fund the mini-grants as well as a portion of the dinner revenue.
If you haven’t joined the Foundation, won’t you
consider becoming a member today?
