The foundation began for one reason—to support SMABH help people in need. With a goal of growing the endowment fund to $1 million before it would begin making allocations. The endowment fund reached that $1 million mark and at its quarterly meeting last week, the board unanimously approved establishing a mini-grant program. The grants will provide all SMABH programs and departments the ability to apply for grants ranging from $500—$2,500 annually. A formula uses 100% of the membership dues and a portion from endowment revenue to determine the annual amount to be awarded.
