Hello everyone! I
still have some slots open for presentations here in Ontario
before I leave for the West Coast, and from there back to
Colombia. As many of you know I've spent some time with the
Christian Peacemaker Aboriginal Justice Team this summer and early
fall. We were working with the Mi'kmaq of Elsipogtg and their
allies. I was there for part of the blockade in which we had the
SWN thumper trucks used for testing for hydraulic gas
fracking. I left before the blockade was violently taken down by
the RCMP, but kept and remain in close contact with our team and
our Mi'kmaq partners and others.
I have spot for presentations
available in Ontario from Nov 12th until the 22nd. and on the West
Coast Vancouver-Vancouver Island area from November 28th until
December 13th. Contact me at Stewart.i...@gmail.com
(preferred) or cell 647 657 7665.

THE
WAY
FORWARD: Protecting and Respecting Cultural Diversity and
Undoing
Corporate Neo-Colonialism
--a
presentation by long-time Christian Peacemaker Team activist
Stewart
Vriesinga.
Stewart will
discuss the similarities between the struggles of the Elsipogtog
First Nation in New Brunswick and the communities Christian
Peacemaker teams accompanies in the Middle Magdalene region of
Colombia. Both, he argues, are the victims of neo-colonization
by
multinational corporations and nation states who use state
security
forcespolice and militaryto promote the interests of foreign
corporations, thereby threatening the survival of more
sustainable
peoples and cultures within their own borders and abroad.
Stewart
further argues that supporting the struggles for survival and
autonomy of diverse cultures and peoples will not only help
curtail
destructive and unsustainable global corporate control over land
and
resources; it will also serve as a model for all of us about how
we
can collectively regain the sovereignty and control we clearly
lack
to protect our own common futures and maintain an inhabitable
sustainable planet.
