Stewart has been a Christian Peacemaker Teams volunteer since February, 2002. He has served in the First Nations' community of Grassy Narrows in Canada, in Iraq both during and after the invasion, and has served in Colombia since April,2005. He expects to continue working in Colombia indefinitely but as of September 2009 spend half of his time doing advocacy work for Colombians in Canada..

The CPT team in Colombia has developed the following as their mission statement:

MISSION STATEMENT: Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT) Colombia is a community made up of trained volunteers from different cultures that forms part of the international, ecumenical organization, CPT. We work together on grassroots initiatives to expose and transform structures of domination and oppression through active nonviolence in order to make possible a world grounded in respect, justice and love, even of enemies.

The roots of the aforementioned "structures of domination and oppression" extend into Canada and the United States of America. The effectiveness of Stewart's work and the work of the team depends on your active collaboration. The future of Colombian victims of violence, domination and oppression depends on it. Please support us in every way you can!

And join a delegation and come for a visit and see for yourself!
