Hi all,
please find attached an article that we just published in the journal Environmental Biology of Fishes about the presettlement schooling behaviour of juvenile priacanthids.
We used stereo-video to obtain fish lengths, swimming speed and schooling parameters (Nearest Neighbour Distance).

Presettlement schooling behaviour of a priacanthid, the Purplespotted Bigeye Priacanthus tayenus (Priacanthidae: Teleostei)

authors:  J. Santana Garcon, J. Leis, S. Newman and E. Harvey

The data was obtained using pelagic BRUVS, you will find a short description of the technique in the article. This research is part of my PhD project: 'The development and validation of a mid-water baited video technique for investigating pelagic fishassemblages'.

I hope you will find it interesting.

Cheers,

Julia

Also note that Julia now has a Youtube video with some of the footage which this paper was based on.
