Meeting Minutes
January 9, 2020
Parkview Baptist Church Meeting Room
President Robert Pearce called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. A quorum was present. The agenda for the meeting and the minutes of the previous meeting were approved by consensus.
Crime watch report
Officer Stephen Weaver of the Crime Prevention Unit reported that in the past two months, the neighborhood had 1 armed robbery, no burglaries, 1 domestic disturbance, and 1 drug overdose death. He reminded us to call MYGNV to report neighborhood problems.
New business
With the departure of Barbara Ruth, who has moved to Arizona, we have to elect a new vice-president, which will occur in the near future.
Reports
Garden. Kathy will now be doing the garden report.
Notification. We need distribution volunteers to
place a meeting reminder sign out on any major neighborhood
street, on the morning of our bimonthly meeting. Lorie Thebaut
volunteered to do one; more volunteers are needed.
Cabot/Koppers.
Robert Pearce and Bryan Cotter reported on their meetings with representatives from Beazer East (Koppers), Cabot Carbon, and the U.S. EPA.
Construction of the slurry wall at the Cabot site has begun. The slurry wall at the Koppers site is scheduled to begin this spring. Cabot, the City, and CSX Railroad are collaborating on the remediation at the northeast lagoon (28th Place and Main St.), which was scheduled to begin February 10.
Negotiations continue among the City, Cabot, and the EPA regarding responsibility for the stormwater pond on the Cabot property.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:35 p.m. The next meeting will be on March 12 at 6:00 p.m.
