Before the invention of Hangul, people used the borrowed characters from Chinese that had the closest sounds to the Korean sounds, but this was not an ideal system for writing Korean. Hanja, the Chinese script, was so complex that only the very wealthy elite were able to understand and write it. Most people in Korea were illiterate.

I want to buy ebook for webtoon manhwa... I know they sell a physical copy of the volumes but I want a digital ebook :0 I want to keep the webtoon I love in my digital library like my manga ebook library I bought from ... if anyone knows an authorized seller website that has all korean webtoon volumes in ebook formate please tell me
Thank you :3

@starless thank you so much for the links!
though I wonder why do they only sell physical volumes not digital like manga... is it because their main source is the digital platform? cause I don't like the idea of buying by chapters and more like volumes I can keep in my device to read offline...

Generally, Manga gets serialized in physical compendiums of other manga titles (shonen jump/shojo beat etc). Then if a series is popular enough, they take those titles and combine the issues together with other goodies and print the volumes. The manga e-books are just the digital versions of those volumes. Webcomics start out as being released together in an individual format. I'm guessing there just isn't much of a demand to buy something most people already own in a slightly different form. I know that shonen jump now does everything digitally, but it's only been that way for a year or two and the industry as a whole still uses the old model.

Today (April 1), the Webtoon Japanese subsidiary Line Digital Frontier has completed an acquisition of its own, buying Ebook Initiative Japan, an ebook service provider. A goal here is for Webtoon to more firmly cement its presence in the manga-avid Japanese marketplace.

Ebook Initiative, based in Tokyo, was founded in 2000. it operates not only its ebook effort but also an online service for print called Bookfan. Linked through Yahoo Japan, Ebook Japan reportedly hosts more than 800,000 works, 95 percent of those sales in manga.

More from Publishing Perspectives on Wattpad is here, more on mergers and acquisitions is here, more on Webtoon is here, more on comics and graphic-storytelling content is here. More from us on the Japanese market is here, and more on South Korea is here. More from us on screen adaptation work is here.

Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint (also called Omniscient Reader and often abbreviated to ORV) is an apocalyptic fantasy fiction webnovel, written by a Korean author duo writing under the pen name Sing Shong. It was originally written in Korean, and has been translated to unofficially English by Webnovel translators RainbowTurtle and A_Passing_Wanderer.

A novel called Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World (written by the anonymous author tls123) has been written and published over the course of a decade, and Kim Dokja is the sole reader who has followed it to its ending. When the real world is plunged into the premise of Ways of Survival, Kim Dokja's unique knowledge of the novel becomes vital to his survival. Kim Dokja allies with Yoo Joonghyuk, the protagonist of Ways of Survival, in order to change the novel's original plot and more quickly approach the end of the story. As Kim Dokja and his party members progress through the scenarios, they face increasingly difficult threats and life-or-death challenges, struggling to stay alive and work together as they aim to destroy the that demands their suffering.

In January 2021, an ebook and physical book release were both announced.[3] The first eight ebook volumes were released in March 2021 on Munpia and later Naver. Four more were released in September 2021. The last volumes appeared in January 2023.

Sing Shong have confirmed that they revised some parts of the novel for the ebook, but those changes will not be reflected in the contents of the original webnovel.[4] According to the "author's review" featured in the e-book, both versions are equally "correct" and likened to conflicting memories of the same events.

The ebook has been receiving various physical releases. Since 2022, Korean softcover and hardcover editions are being published. Official translations in simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese, and Thai, are distributed as well.

The side stories are bonus chapters, detailing previously untold events in ORV (e.g. expanding on Yoo Joonghyuk's backstory). As of May 2023, five side stories have been released: two in the ebook, one in the physical hardcover release and one freely available on Munpia/Naver[5]. The last side story began on February 15th 2023 and has been ongoing ever since with roughly four new chapters a week. It appears to be a direct continuation of ORV and is centered around webnovel author Lee Hakhyun. Furthermore, ORV characters have made an appearance in the side story of World After The Fall, one of Sing Shong's other webnovels. None of this content has been officially translated in English yet.
