Hi Folks,
Happy February! I hope Brigid is helping you to blow out all the cobwebs and welcome in spring!

We thought some people here might find the initial outputs from our citizen science storytelling project of interest. As part of the Caomhnú project, folks from Irish rural and remote communities have been sharing their experiences and hopes in relation to the climate crisis, climate action and more. However, rather than me telling you all about their fantastic stories, check out our video and our interactive map: bit.ly/caomhnu. There you can hear/read the storytellers stories in their own words. We are deeply grateful to them for sharing so much with us and want to make sure we platform them as much as we can.

The team behind Caomhnú includes Gesche Kindermann, Jessamyn Fairfield and Peter O'Neill (an undergraduate student) at the University of Galway, Órla McGovern who is a storyteller and performer and myself. We had funding from Impetus4CS, who are currently have a call open for new citizen science projects if you have ideas: https://impetus4cs.eu/.

As with any good project, we have learned so much about our practice, particularly with regards to our own assumptions about how much people want to talk about this (a hint: way more than we expected!). We have also learned a lot about what didn't work - collecting stories at Electric Picnic when people had strict schedules and were sprinting around was unsurprisingly a total bust! And that's just the practice, the richness of the stories will keep us busy for a good while yet!

We are still welcoming story contributions if you/someone you know is interested. If you have any questions just shout.

Have a great Tuesday!
Claire
