Hi,
The seventh annual Independence Day Ride, in celebration of the freedom we have that allows us to live the life we choose and to ride when and where we choose, will take place on Friday, July 4 beginning at Shaw’s in Ashland at 7:30 AM. The current route is available on cue sheet, map and GPS at http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1351347, 74 miles. If changes are made, I will let you know. Hold off on printing cue sheet until just before the ride - some have suggested adding the two miles to keep with the '76 theme.

The route joins the Boston Marathon route in Framingham and continues into Boston. We’ll pass the State House, arrive at Faneuil Hall in time for the end of the parade; then proceed onto Storrow Drive and out to Lexington. After a stop for ice cream at Rancatore’s (Gourmet Magazine’s best ice cream in Boston) we’ll pass the Minuteman Statue and continue into Concord over the North Bridge then head back over some historic roads in Sudbury and Framingham.

Please note that this post is being sent to several lists. You may receive it more than once. Also, the group from which you receive it may have different standards than this ride will follow. What I mean is that this is a ride at your own pace ride with a few places at which we may regroup – Faneuil Hall, Rancatore’s, North Bridge. Usually, there are two groups; one averaging 15 to 16 mph, the other 13-14 mph.

Feedback welcome. Feel free to invite other riders.

Let me know if you’ll be joining me. If it works for you, you may join the ride along the route by letting me know where and making the timing work for all.

Best,
Alan Cantor
