What: White House Panel on Women and Girls in STEM Fields
Women and girls continue to be significantly underrepresented in the STEM fields - a trend that starts early and comes at a serious cost to both the career prospects of our young women and to the success of our economy. By ensuring women and girls receive
the exposure, support and encouragement they need to enter, and succeed in, STEM fields, this country can benefit from the full range and diversity of its talent.
The White House Council on Women and Girls is excited to announce a White House event that features a panel of trailblazing women in STEM careers who will share their experiences and encourage young women to follow in their footsteps - or blaze a trail of their
own.
-
The event will kick off with the very first public screening of a White House video on girls in STEM (featuring footage from girls who participated in the White House Science Fair in February).
-
The focus of the event will be a panel with several female STEM role models who will discuss their STEM career experiences.
-
The event will conclude with time for Q&A with the panelists.
Note: Audience members joining via live-stream will be able to submit their questions for the panelists through Twitter.
When: Tuesday, April 24th, 10:30am-11:45am EST
Where: The event will be broadcast live online from the White House, enabling anyone with internet access to join. Local high school girls interested in the STEM fields will make up the audience
on site at the White House. We will also make a video recording of the entire event available online for viewing any time.
Who: You! We are seeking the participation of students, teachers and advocates across the U.S., particularly girls and women, via live-stream and Twitter (links to come).
**Please save the date and look for further announcements regarding the panelists and instructions for participation in coming weeks.**
