Students with a degree in engineering, computer sciences, or the hard sciences can take the US Patent Office’s registration exam to become a patent agent. The exam is available virtually on-demand. Becoming a patent agent can also be a step toward becoming a patent attorney.

Join Practising Law Institute (PLI) for a presentation by Mark Dighton, PLI's Director of Patent Office Courses. Topics will include careers for patent agents, the degrees, qualities and skills employers look for, and the latest info on the Patent Office’s registration exam.

After participating in this program, you'll be prepared to:

  • Understand career options in the patent field;
  • Find out about the US Patent Office exam, the gateway to these careers; and
  • Consider whether going on to law school might be an option.
