2027 NASA Collegiate Challenges - Administered by the National Institute of Aerospace

Notice Of Intent (NOI) deadlines are approaching for 3 NASA student competitions administered by the National Institute of Aerospace for 2027.

Visit the individual competition websites to view each competition's full details,

including eligibility and challenge guidelines:

Gateways to Blue Skies Competition | RASC-AL Competition | Human Lander Challenge (HuLC)

Submitting an NOI is non-binding and does not commit a team to submitting a proposal.

Gateways to Blue Skies Competition

NOI Deadline: Monday, October 12

2027 Theme: InfraAir | Aviation for Infrastructure Inspection

Context: In NASA's 2027 Gateways to Blue Skies Competition, collegiate teams of two to six students are asked to conceptualize innovative airborne platforms for inspecting land-based infrastructure that can be implemented by 2035 or sooner with the goal of improving safety, reliability, efficiency, and costs.

In Phase 1, up to 8 Finalist teams will receive $9,000 and advance to Phase 2 where they will present at a forum in May 2027. Eligible student team members of the Phase 2 winning team will be offered NASA Aeronautics internships in the academic year following the competition!
